Israeli Peace activist Matan Cohen - Public Meeting / Press Club, 7 Aug, 4-6pm

Dear All,

As part of the Palestinian Solidarity Movement, we are organizing a Public Meeting with a young Israeli peace activist, Matan Cohen from Tel Aviv.

Matan has been one of the founders of the "Refusenik" anti-Militarist movement. He is also the leader of the "Students for Justice for Palestine" in Hampshire College (USA), which was amongst the first to divest from Israel.

Matan is deeply committed to the cause of Palestine and would be sharing his perspective on:
a) The Palestinian struggle.
b) The current progress if any, in the "Peace Process".
c) The dynamics within Israeli society vis-a-vis the peace process.
d) The increasing pressure from America on Israel, under the able guidance of George Mitchell, to find a negotiated solution.
e) The role of the Israeli Zionist Lobby within America.
f) The inceasing co-operation between India & Israel, especially in Military and security matters would also be discussed.

Comrade Sanjay Singhvi (General Secretary TUCI) will preside and the panel would include Pratima Joshi (senior journalist), Sarfaraz Arzu (Hindustan Daily - Editor) & Feroze Mithiborwala (Convenor - Awami Bharat)

Venue: Press Club, Azad Maidan, CST, Mumbai.
Date: 7th August (Friday), 2009
Time: 4-6pm

The meeting would be open for an informed dicussion on the vexed Palestine-Israeli conflict which is the central geo-political question of our times.
