Mossad’s Murderous Reach: The Larger Political Issues
Mossad’s Murderous Reach: The Larger Political Issues
By James Petras
On January 19 Israel’s international secret police, the Mossad, sent an eighteen member death squad to Dubai using European passports, supposedly ‘stolen’ from Israeli dual citizens and altered with fake photos and signatures, in order to assassinate the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud al Mabhouh.
The evidence is overwhelming: The Dubai police presentation of detailed security videos of the assassins was corroborated by the testimony of Israeli security experts and applauded by Israel’s leading newspapers and columnists. The Mossad openly stated that Mabhouh was a high priority target who had survived three previous assassination attempts. Israel did not even bother to deny the murder. Furthermore, the sophisticated communication system used by the killers, the logistics and planning surrounding their entry and exit from Dubai and the scope and scale of the operation have all the characteristics of a high-level state operation. Furthermore, only Mossad would have access to the European passports of its dual citizens! Only Mossad would have the capacity, motivation, stated intent and willingness to provoke a diplomatic row with its European allies, knowing full well that Western European governments’ anger would blow over because of their deep links to Israel. After meticulous investigation and the interrogation of 2 captured Palestinian Mossad collaborators, the Dubai police chief has stated he is sure the Mossad was behind the killing.
The Larger Political Issues
Israel’s policy of overseas assassination raises profound issues that threaten the basis of the modern state: sovereignty, rule of law and national and personal security.
Israel has a publicly-stated policy of violating the sovereignty of any and all countries in order to kill or abduct its opponents. In both proclamation and actual practice, Israeli law, decrees and actions abroad supersede the laws and law enforcement agencies of any other nation. If Israel’s policy becomes the common practice world-wide, we would enter a savage Hobbesian jungle in which individuals would be subject to the murderous intent of foreign assassination squads unrestrained by any law or accountable national authority. Each and every state could impose its own laws and cross national borders in order to murder other nation’s citizens or residents with impunity. Israel’s extra-territorial assassinations make a mockery of the very notion of national sovereignty. Extra-territorial secret police elimination of opponents was a common practice of the Nazi Gestapo, Stalin’s GPU and Pinochet’s DINA and has now become the sanctioned practice of the US “Special Forces” and the CIA clandestine division. Such policies are the hallmark of totalitarian, dictatorial and imperialist states, which systematically trample on the sovereign rights of peoples.
Israel’s practice of extra-judicial, extra-territorial assassinations, exemplified by the recent murder of Mahmoud al Mabhouh in a Dubai hotel room, violates all the fundamental precepts of the rule of law. Extra-judicial killings ordered by a state, mean its own secret police are judge, jury, prosecutor and executioner, unrestrained by sovereignty, law and the duty of nations to protect their citizens and visitors. Evidence, legal procedures, defense and cross examinations are obliterated in the process. State-sponsored, extra-judicial murder completely undermines due process. Liquidation of opponents abroad is the logical next step after Israel’s domestic show trials, based on the application of its racial laws and administrative detention decrees, which have dispossessed the Palestinian people and violated international laws.
Mossad death squads operate directly under the Israeli Prime Minister (who personally approved the recent murder). The vast majority of Israelis proudly support these assassinations, especially
when the killers escape detection and capture. The unfettered operation of foreign state-sponsored death squads, carrying out extra-judicial assassinations with impunity, is a serious threat to every critic, writer, political leader and civic activist who dares to criticize Israel.
Mossad Murders - Zionist Fire
The precedent of Israel killing its adversaries abroad, establishes the outer boundaries of repression by its overseas supporters in the leading Zionist organizations, most of whom have now and in the past supported Israel’s violation of national sovereignty via extra-judicial killings. If Israel physically eliminates its opponents and critics, the 51 major American Jewish organizations economically repress Israel’s critics in the US. They actively pressure employers, university presidents and public officials to fire employees, academics and professionals who dare to speak or write against Israeli torture, killing and systematic dispossession of Palestinians.
So far, most critical comments, in Israel and elsewhere, of Mossad’s recent murder in Dubai focus on the agents’ “incompetence”, including allowing their faces to be captured on numerous security videos as they clumsily changed their wigs and costumes under the camera gaze . Other critics complain that the bungling Mossad is “tarnishing Israel’s image” as a democratic state and providing ammunition for the anti-Semites. None of these superficial criticisms have been repeated by the US Congress, White House or the Presidents of the Major Jewish American organizations, where the mafia rule of Omerga, or silence, reigns supreme and criminal complicity is the rule
Conclusion
While the critics bemoan the clumsy Mossad job, making it harder for Western powers to provide Israel with diplomatic cover for its operations abroad, the fundamental issue is never addressed: The Mossad’s acquisition and alteration of official British, French, German and Irish passports of dual Israeli citizen’s underscores the cynical and sinister nature of Israel’s exploitation of its dual citizens in the pursuit of its own bloody foreign policy goals. Mossad’s use of genuine passports issued by four sovereign European nations to its citizens in order to murder a Palestinian in a Dubai hotel room raises the question of to whom ‘dual’ Israeli citizens really owe their allegiance and just how far they are willing to go in defending or promoting Israel’s overseas assassinations.
Thanks to Israel’s use of British passports to enter Dubai and murder an adversary, every British businessperson or tourist traveling in the Middle East will be suspected of links to Israeli death squads. With elections this year and the Labor and Conservative parties counting heavenly on Zionist millionaires for campaign funding, it remains to be seen whether Prime Minister Gordon Brown will do more than whimper and cringe!

Explosives which did not make news
It is astonishing that a seizure of explosives in container bags that carry a Pune connection on the very next day of the Pune blast, is not a story for the media! SHAHINA KK wonders at the bland response to seizures in Gujarat the day after the blast.
After the chilling Mumbai episode, once again the country has woken up to a tale of terror. The death toll in the Pune blast is 11 according to the latest figures. The police has not yet been able to achieve any significant progress in the investigation. The media, as usual has come up with stories of alleged involvement of terrorist outfits Lashkar and the Indian Mujahideen. According to the reports which appeared on the next day, the Lashkar, a break away faction of LeT and IM Kasmir (TOI) have already laid claim to the blast. A new Jihadi group based in Pakistan is also there in the list that claimed responsibility for the blast. Apart from these claims, solid breakthroughs are yet to emerge. When media talks about terrorism, the common reader/viewer is left with little choice. There is no room to raise eyebrows against the absence of evidence and confirmation by the investigating agencies. Hence, there is nothing much to do, but to wait, watch and see.
Explosives do not have the same news value always. Ammonium nitrate mixed with RDX need not always have a terror tale. Detonators and gelatin sticks need always not grab the prime time and space of electronic and print media. On the very next day after Pune blast there was another story that got relatively little importance and space in the mainstream national newspapers. The story was about the seizure of a huge cache of explosives inGujarat. 200kg of ammonium nitrate, 600 detonators and 200 gelatine sticks have been seized by Gujarat Special Operations Group on Sunday, the after the Pune blast. No news papers except The Hindu has carried this story on their national network. The amazing balance and objectivity kept by The Hindu, in the story which is free from terror phobia' is indeed commendable.
The Hindu reports;
“The Gujarat police on Sunday seized materials used for making explosives in Vapi on the border of Maharashtra. Coming close on the heels of the bomb blast in Pune, the seizure of 200 kg. Of ammonium nitrate, 600 detonators and 200 gelatine sticks from a car and an autorickshaw unnerved the police. However, investigation revealed that the materials were meant for quarrying at Silvassa, the headquarters of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Additional Director-General of Police (South Gujaratrange) A.K. Singh said they were questioning three persons who were in the car with the explosive materials.
The occupants of the car were believed to be guiding an autorickshaw, which was also carrying the explosive materials, to Silvassa from Vapi. The explosives were procured from a licensed dealer, but were being taken to the Union Territory without permit. One of the arrested was the owner of a quarry in Silvassa. The car and the autorickshaw were seized. An explosives dealer was arrested for handing over the materials to those without permits.
There is hardly any mention in the story of the whereabouts of the ‘three persons' arrested. Neither the names, nor the religion of the accused have been mentioned. Any accused is innocent, until he is proven guilty. At the same time, there are several questions coming into the mind of the reader. “Who are these three persons? How can the police immediately rule out the possibility of any connection with the Pune blast? Why have the names of the arrested people been eschewed?
Some other newspapers and websites give different versions and information about the seizure. The Indian Express gives a detailed account of the story. The Express story in its Ahmedabad edition reveals the names of the people involved. It says “ Three persons identified as Barjish Misra, Ganesh Yadav and Ramkishore Gupta were arrested and booked under the explosives act. They told the police that they have purchased the explosives from Balaji Enterprises in Vapi in Valsad district”.
It is also reported in news websites that, a police constable is involved in it. That part of the story is curiously missing in the rest of the mainstream press. The bags that carried the explosives had the seal of a shop in Pune, is another piece of information that got little attention from the media. The Times Of India, carried this story in its Ahmedabad edition. The story goes: “A day after the Pune blast, the seizure of 200 kg of ammonium nitrate, 600 electrical detonators with TETA (an organic compound) and 20 gelatin sticks in Vapi on Sunday came as a rude shock considering the ease with which such lethal stuff was being transported illegally. Ironically, the deadly material was in gunny bags bearing the seal of Deepak Fertilisers in Yerawada, Pune. The stuff, worth Rs 3.50 lakh, was being transported from Vapi to Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, according to DS Chauhan, inspector, Special Operation Group (SOG), Vapi. The consignment was meant for Dorji Keki Mirza, who runs a mining operation in Silvassa”
It is unbelievable that such a piece of information is only a regional news item for a national newspaper. It is astonishing that a seizure of explosives in container bags that carry a Pune connection on the very next day of Pune blast, is no more a story for the media!
The Times of India and the Hindustan Times gave little space to the story in their national network. A reader inDelhi or in any other part of the country, other than Ahmedabad, does not have any information on the matter. Both the newspapers came up with a number of stories on 15th February, calling attention to the zero progress in the investigation of Pune blast. Surprisingly there was no mention about the seizure of a huge cache of explosives on the very next day of the blast.
On the next day of a terror strike, as it is called, the seizure of lethal explosives raises a number of questions that remain unattended to. Why has the case has been registered under the Explosives act? Has it no more significance than that? How can the police rule out the involvement of any terrorist outfit in this regard?
In another incident on the same day, a Jeep transporting 50 kg ammonium nitrate, 400 detonators, and 85 gelatin sticks and 100 safety fuses was intercepted near Limdi, Surendranagar district. One person was held in connection with this illegal carriage of explosives. The Ahmedabad edition of The Indian Express reports that Police has refused to disclose the identity of the person arrested! This incident too did not go beyond the regional editions of the National newspapers.
All huge caches of explosives apparently do not have the same story to tell. They vary according to geographical and cultural locations. The news value is not same for explosives being seized in Kashmir or Assam compared to those being seized in Gujarat! This is not to argue that the explosives seized from two places in Gujarat on the next day of Pune blast must have some terror connection. It may be only a simple case of illegal carriage by a quarry owner. The only question is how can the police arrive at simple conclusions within hours of a terror strike? How can the media that usually plays the role of super investigator be contented with the police version on the seizure? Why is no media going after the Pune connection of the container bags of explosives? Is it only because the arrested persons do not carry names that have the unbearable burden of Jihad?

‘The Indian Mujahideen is a figment of imagination’ by Praveen Dhonti / Hindustan Times
‘The Indian Mujahideen is a figment of imagination’
“I don’t even know if they are alive,” says the father, Ismail Shabandri (70).
His mother is quite vocal, while his father is soft-spoken. “Innocent youth are being picked up. The lawyers who take the cases are shot in broad daylight. If this goes on, we don’t know what all will happen,” says Sayeeda.
Bhatkal was just another remote coastal town in Karnataka before “the most wanted terror mastermind” — Riyaz Bhatkal — made it his surname.
Police on the terror trail from Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Mangalore have visited this town on NH 17, two hours away from Mangalore. The media has also thrown up his brother Iqbal’s name after the Pune blast. They were last seen in this town in 2008 before they vanished.
Their family — father, mother, wives and seven children — live in Madina colony. “You know why we are here? asked the Pune police. Yes, there’s been a blast, we said,” says the mother, Sayeeda (60). They are used to such visits now. “They accused my son without any investigation. The Indian Mujahideen is just a figment of imagination. There is no proof against him till date.”
They live in penury, a sharp contrast to the rest of the town. Relatives and neighbours are scared to talk. The top floor of the house, which was turned into a ‘laboratory for making bombs’ according to a local daily, now has an examination schedule pasted on the wall.
The residents don’t want to associate his name to the town. “His mother is from Bhatkal but his father is from Modeshwar village. And he was born and brought up in Mumbai,” says Mohammad Arif Ibrahim, his uncle. When his name first came up in 2008, people were not ready to believe.
“His name is Riyaz Shabandari. Muslims don’t attach the name of the place. It’s just a conspiracy to malign the reputation of Bhatkal,” says Mohammad Haneef, a medical practitioner. Why would anybody want to do that? “Jealousy,” he replies. An answer HT heard several times in the town. Even from intelligence officers.
The town is inhabited by Navayath Muslims, traders who trace their origins to Yemen. A quick drive around town shows how well they have prospered in the Gulf. Prosperity greets you in the form of villas and mansions. Every family has at least two members working in the Gulf. Riyaz’s family was settled in Mumbai. His father, Ismail, too went to Bahrain and then Dubai. Thus, he could educate Riyaz and Iqbal to become engineers.
It’s possible that two political speeches led to who and what Riyaz Shabandri is today. In 1991, Uma Bharti’s speech, urging for the demolition of Babri Masjid, was played on a loud speaker in front of Noor masjid. A large-scale riots ensued and two Muslim youth were killed in police firing.
As the town slowly regained normalcy, the then Karnataka chief minister, Veerappa Moily made a speech in 1993, blaming the BJP and the other right wing outfits for triggering the riots. Trouble began to brew again. Bhatkal was under curfew for over six months. Casualties: 17 dead. 13 Muslims. 4 Hindus.
Out of the 13 members that were mentioned along with Riyaz in the chargesheet, after the Mumbai train blasts, 11 are from the area of Mangalore and Bhatkal. “The area is divided, there is a lot of mistrust. It is a fertile ground for terrorism,” says Subramanyesvara Rao, SP, Mangalore.

Where did the RDX used in Pune come from?
Written by Moin Ansari World
There are several sources of the Indian Rmy issue issued RDX. The lues lead to the Hindu perpetuators of carnage on the Pakistani Samjohta Express laden with Pakistanis returning home.
The trail of Pune leads straight to Puhoit and his gang that had access to the RDX from the Indian Army.

PUNE – Pune police on Feb 16 said they have got “vital” information on the blast from the CCTV footages even as two persons with suspected links with Indian Mujahideen were detained in connection with the attack.
Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said they have got the forensic report and it has established that RDX and ammonium nitrate were used in the attack at the German Bakery, a popular eatery in Pune city. “We have the CCTV footages. We have got some vital information from it,” Singh told reporters here. “We received the forensic report last night. It has been established that the presence of RDX, ammonium nitrate and petroleum hydrocarbon oil in it,” the Commissioner said. The explosives were hidden inside a bag which was lying under a table in the cafe. It exploded when a waiter tried to open it.
Singh said 24-year-old Abhishek Saxena from Lucknow succumbed to his injuries on Feb 15 night, taking the toll to 10.
Will Shiv Sena Marhati xenophobia destroy Bollywood and Mumbai? Shiv sena has succeeded in tarnishing Bollywood, and Mumbai–today Mumbai is a synonym for terror. More cracks in India: Can it survive Shiv Sena xenophobia?

Will Shiv Sena Marhati xenophobia destroy Bollywood?
Failed States. The Shev Sena vials of hate about “Mumbai for Maharashtrians only” is more insidious than the most vocal Nazi racism that was built on ethnic cleansing and deportation of “aliens”. The Shiv Sena “war against North-Indian’s” is more profound than the chauvinistic malevolence of the KKK that propagates the racial superiority of a race. The Thakaray’s supremacy vitriol against the “Italians” is actually rhetoric against all Christians. When the ignoble Sena bans Australian cricketers from Mumbai–it is actually spewing malignity and malicious venom against all people of European origin. The villainous Sena’s ethnocentrism opposing Mayawati is really its misogynic policy of continued enslavement of the Dalits.
A tailor from the shopping complex around the graveyard had picked up a corpse without torso with a false beard. It simply disappeared! How sinister!
While reacting to the bombs the Hindus were making in Nanded he said with a smirk they were not meant for pooja!
Sources of Pune RDX is either from Prihot or from Shankar Shelke
Lt Col Shrikant Prasad Purohit freinds 500 activists trained at Goa hideout and at Bhonsla Military Schols of Nasik and Pune are still at large.
Traces of RDX that Purohit stole form the army stock were found in the house of Sudhakar Chaturvedi in Matunga, Pune.
The Pune RDX could have come from Shankar Shelke of Ahmednager. who on September 16 2006 had been caught with 195 kg of RDX and some bomb shells.
Pune bombed: More Shiv Sena terror in Maharahstra
The Sena’s obnoxious diatribes against Jews and the Chinese are not isolated murmers–they are part and parcel of the Swastika heralding philosophy that sees Hindu dominance over all other faiths and races. The Shiv Sena vitriol against Muslims is disguised as a tirade against the Khans. While the press reports and the Shiv Sena TV and newspaper outlets simply mention “Khan”, the term term ”Khan” implies all Muslims. Shiv Sen’a odious campaign against “foreigners” in Mumbai is to displace and move out all Muslims and all North Indians from Maharashtra, by coercion, and intimidation. The Shiv Sena squalid outbursts against all Australians, Nepalese, and Bangladeshis is an outburst against humanity. India intoxicated by meager success is blind to real self-portrait of caste infested penury and balkanization
India’s Security nightmares: Naxalites, Mioram, Tamilland, Khalistan, 7 sisters of Northeast, 450 million Untouchable Dalits, Kashmiris, 150 million Muslims. Mumbai the commercial center of Bharat (aka India) today looks and feels like Pre-Weimar Germany, where the Jews lived in fear of being deported and killed. Bharat’s Maoist insurgency.

CONDOLENCE MEETING IN MEMORY OF SHAHID AZMI
CONDOLENCE MEETING IN MEMORY OF SHAHID AZMI
ON 18TH FEBRUARY 2010 AT 5 PM AT MUMBAI MARATHI PATRAKAR SANGH,
2ND FLOOR MUMBAI
“They ask me to tell them what Shahid means-
Listen: it means “The Beloved” in Persian, “witness” in Arabic”
(Agha Shahid Ali)
Shahid Azmi is no more. When he was in his mid-teens he saw his co-religionists slaughtered in the 1992-93 anti-Muslim carnage in Mumbai. He left Mumbai went to Kashmir joined the militants there, but he did not last very long and soon returned home to his family. Soon upon his return to Mumbai, he was falsely implicated and arrested for the attempted assassination of a political leader, prosecuted and convicted and sent to Tihar jail where he spent the remaining of his teenage years. In appeal, Shahid was acquitted by the Supreme Court. When he was in jail he pursued his studies with the active encouragement and assistance of Kiran Bedi. After his release from Tihar he began practising law in Mumbai and took up many criminal cases and raised important legal issues before the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court. What most distressed him, and which formed a bulk of his professional work, was the way in which the Muslim youth were targeted by the state and falsely implicated in criminal cases, as was he as a boy of 15 years. This was unpalatable to those whom he opposed and fence sitters who would rather have a lawyer defend his practice by calling it his ‘profession’- his bread, butter and jam.
Shahid Azmi was passionate about justice, and used the law courts to seek redress of injustices of any kind. This quest for justice led him to join the Committee for Protection of Democratic Rights (Mumbai) and Indian Association of People's Lawyers, and was an active member. The tragedy of Shahid’s death is the tragic loss of possibilities of a life that will now never be.
We invite you to come share your memories of Shahid with us.

PRESS STATEMENT
PUNE, 13/2 - GERMAN BAKERY BLASTS - PRIME TARGET INDO-PAKISTAN PEACE TALKS
1) INVESTIGATE INVOLVEMENT OF ABHINAV BHARAT- IB - MOSSAD TERROR MODULES
2) Advocate Shahid Azmi's murder - We demand a judicial inquiry.
3) Extradite CIA agent David Headley to India
At last we are talking politics. We had always maintained that every terror attack has a political agenda which it tries to determine, scuttle or undermine. The primary reason behind the German Bakery Blast that occurred in Pune on the 13th of February 2010, was to undoubtedly subvert the Indo-Pakistan dialogue process that has been currently underway since the last week, with the Foreign Secretaries to meet on the coming 25th.
For once we welcome the fact that the government has desisted from naming the usual suspects. But the media backed by the pro-US/Israeli political elements within, is already blaring away about the involvement of the Indian Mujahedeen (IM is basically a covert operation of the IB & whose antecedents we will discuss later), as well as David Coleman Headley, who is not a double agent, but a committed CIA-Mossad operative. But the fact of the matter is that is this the only terror force in this country opposed to the talks??
The Corporate Media has taught us all a new lesson. We were not aware of the fact that the Abhinav Bharat, the Sanatan Sanstha or for that matter the hard core right-wing sections of the BJP, RSS, Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal, Durga Vahini or the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, are supportive of the Indo-Pakistan talks. This absurdity in the media discourse stems from the fact that a large section of the secular-liberal media itself, leave alone it’s communal sections, suffers from a strong dose of Islamophobia. The Pune terror attack & it’s aftermath where the media was already quoting ‘sources’ & with it’s ‘experts’ ranting away with a worldview coloured by Western media sources. This is also the reason as to why the media carries on with it’s infantile tirade against China, Iran & Pakistan amongst others as orchestrated by the US lobbies & assets.
The corporate media is also terming the Pune blast as the first after the 26/11 attacks, conveniently airbrushing away the fact of the Sanatan Sanstha Goa terror blast of November 2009. That is the corporate media today, distortion, deceit & disinformation are the norm & thus their falling credibility in the eyes of the masses.
The Pune terror pattern is similar to the Abhinav Bharat agendas & operations of the recent past. Immediately after the blast the IBN-LOKMAT channel mentioned that he pattern appears similar to the Malegaon attacks & it appears that a cycle was used. Later on we were told that a bag with deadly bombs was found in an auto-rickshaw that was to have targeted the Chabad Lubavitch House nearby. Cycled, Scooters or Auto-Rickshaws; they are all part of the pattern that match an Abhinav Bharat operation. The fact that Ammonium Nitrate mixed with RDX & nails is a Abhinav Bharat finger print. But no discussion on this fact. This was not a Sanatan Sanstha operation, simply due to the level of deadly sophistication. The bombs were placed below the tables & blown off by remote control or a timer. This was the handiwork of highly trained professionals that the Abhinav Bharat does have, as it is a terror network of military personnel committed to a fascist Brahmanical Hindutva agenda.
We are told that the American & Europeans & other foreigners were the main target & the media is discussing the Israeli factor as usual. The blast occurred at 7.00pm or thereabouts & that is when the Westerners are actually within the Osho Ashram, as it is the time of meditation. Thus the ones in the restaurant were mainly our very own Indians from all religions & languages. Interestingly amongst the two foreigners killed, one was an Iranian. The Iranians also comprise the largest section of foreigners grievously maimed in the blast. For those who are aware of the current war of attrition currently underway between Iran & Israel, this point needs to be understood. Interestingly not a single Israeli was injured or killed, as none were present. Elementary . . . !! Also do recall that recently a Mossad module assassinated a Palestinain Hamas leader in Dubai, which they had entered under the cover of European passports, most probably German.
Also Recall that the Jaipur terror attacks of 13th May, 2006 occurred a week prior to the Indo-Pakistan Foreign Ministerial talks. Also the very role of Colonel Purohit & Pravin Togadia (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) have been linked to the Samjhauta train blasts by Shaheed Hemant Karkare, who was too later murdered during the 26/11 False Flag terror attack.
Look at the facts.
1) Which is the terror organization responsible for the most number of terror attacks across Maharashtra & the country during the course of the last four years, ever since a new wave of terror has been unleashed?? Answer, the Abhinav Bharat!!
2) Which terror organization enjoys the patronage & the protection of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) & sections of the Military & the pro-US-Israeli lobbies within the Indian State??
Answer, the Abhinav Bharat!!
3) Which terror organization has the expertise & the resources to expedite sophisticated & well planned terror attacks, to serve the agenda of the extreme-right wing & Zionist Nazis??
Answer, again is the Abhinav Bharat.
Now let us deal with the politics of the situation.
There are three primary inter-connected political reasons that are linked to the terror attacks:
1) The Indo-Pak Peace talks as earlier stated.
Undoubtedly the peace talks have restarted due to the gentle prodding of the Americans. This necessity has arisen due to the increasing resolute & determined resistance that the US-Nato forces are facing in Afghanistan & is fast developing into their new Vietnam.
Thus it was later that the US realised that the Afghan imbroglio can only be settled by actively involving the major regional powers for which two International conferences were recently held in Istanbul (where India was not invited) & the other in London, where our role war relegated to the status of an observer at best.
Thus if the US had to involve the Pakistanis to stabilise Afghanistan, they would need a modicum of peace between India & Pakistan.
Thus the dialogue process has been initiated & we welcome that.
And that is the reason that all of a sudden “Jung ki Asha” has changed to “Aman ki Asha”. So the media that has been blaring away for war has now over night turned to the “Business of Peace.” So whilst the 'Times of India' is on with 'Aman ki Asha', it’s channel, 'Times Now' is still involved in Pakistan bashing. Both Peace & War are good for business. Both of the above are owned by the same business house, namely Benett Coleman.
Also do understand that whilst the US, is nudging the two for talks, the Israeli’s have their independent strategic agenda that at times contradicts US interests & increasingly so.
2) The murder of Advocate Shahid Azmi on February 11.
Shaheed Shahid Azmi (33) was defending the primes accused in the various cases of terror that included the Ghatkopar blast, Aurangabad harms haul, the Mumbai train terror of 2006, the Mumbai 26/11 terror attack, amongst myriad others. His investigations were a serious threat to the entire IB-Police version. Surprisingly even for us, the murder made it to the headlines & the front pages despite the Thackeray-SRK concocted drama. Thus there was a dire need to cover up the murder.
We state this categorically & say it without fear that Shaheed Shahid Azmi was assassinated in cold blood at the behest of pro-US/Israeli elements within the IB & the Police
3) The issue of the supposed attack on the Chabad Lubavitch House.
Interestingly one bag of IED explosives blew up in the German Bakery, whilst another was found in an auto-rickshaw close to the Chabad House. One wonders as to why the terrorists failed to detonate the bombs. No explanation is on offer.
The basic fact is that Israel is the biggest obstacle to Indo-Pak peace & is once again trying to solicit sympathy as it did in the aftermath of the 26/11 false flag terror attack of which Israel was the biggest strategic gainer.
Who gains?? - should be the simple question after every crime, after every terror attack. Ask that basic question & you will arrive at a logical answer,
Moreover, the fact of the Abhinav Bharat-Mossad links are recorded within the chargesheets that were filed as per the investigations of Shri Hemant Karkare.
Also the ‘Deadley-Headley’ matter needs to be analysed, First let us be very clear on a simple indisputable fact – David Coleman Headley is a CIA-MOSAD operative & not a double agent as is being misconstrued & we have already elaborated on this fact. A terrorist who is on a recce to identify targets does not stay right next to the targets for fear of being exposed or identified & this has been the story with Headley in every case.

Remembering Shahid Azmi
By: Monica Sakhrani
Shahid was in love with the idea of justice. Fighting against injustice was the driving force of his life. And this is what cost him his life. Had he looked the other way and treated the testimonials of state oppression, structural violence and systemic injustices as ‘cases’ and not as his crusade for justice, he would have been alive today. The tragedy of Shahid’s death is the tragic loss of possibilities of a life that will now never be. A brilliant, astute mind, a thirst for knowledge and a kind, loving heart. He combined moral courage with legal acumen. His work was his politics and his life. This was unpalatable to those whom he opposed and fence sitters who would rather have a lawyer defend his practice by calling it his ‘profession’- his bread, butter and jam. Instead it was his passion and he took his cases personally. This led to his being branded a ‘terrorist’ lawyer which label had a double entendre given his past. He never hid his past as he believed that it was bound to catch up with him anyway. With infinite patience and humility, he sought to convince people that he was not a terrorist and explain his stand point of justice to them. It was heart wrenching to watch him try to win the approval of mortals much much lesser than him. And often fail. It was hard for him to realize that in this profession where the main motive is money, most would not understand his moral quest. The approval of the legal fraternity was very important to him as of the larger community.
He spoke about his childhood when he went celebrated festivals with his Hindu neighbours and their influences on him. The Bombay riots changed it all for him- the harmonious co-existence- and changed his life forever. Like his death, his life was filled with tragic events and was out of the ordinary. He spoke about it sometimes in context. Listening to him talk about his life in his usual matter of fact tone was an experience quite unprecedented for a sanitized and protected middle class imagination. Losing his father when he was 7 and being brought up on the largesse of better off relatives by his mother. At 15, while returning home from school after an exam in December 1992, being confronted in a lonely lane by a policeman holding a gun at his head threatening to kill him and his lucky escape in a moment of distraction when he ran for his life. He once said that it was the most fearful moment of his life. His illegal confinement in the dungeons below Red Fort for over 50 days and the torture he went through there. His one year of solitary confinement at Tihar till Kiran Bedi ordered him to be taken off it. Pretending to be mentally ill and being in a mental asylum for another year in order to look after a mentally ill co-prisoner. The death threats that he received during his legal career. It was surreal that someone who had been through so much suffering at such a young age, could be so normal. He spoke of his co-accused in the case who were all killed by the state after their acquittal. He believed that he was alive only because of his profession as it gave him legitimacy and immunity from state attack.
His work was not confined to only defending the cases that he gained notoriety for. He pro-actively took up causes of the oustees of the Mithi river beautification project and slum dwellers whose houses were demolished. He was attracted to secularists and democrats and was passionately committed to democratic rights. In jail, he had met Maoist prisoners and helped build the Tihar library with them during Kiran Bedi’s time. He spoke of the books they made him read which shaped his world view. He spoke very highly of Kiran Bedi too and the impact that she had on his life. He was attracted to those who marched to a different beat and went out of his way to befriend them. He read a lot and knew a lot too. He had a driving need to know and dug deep into everything that he studied. He did not confine himself to reading his briefs and defending his cases well but also in analyzing them. He wanted to do his PhD and document the terror cases. In Mumbai he was probably the most knowledgeable person about terrorism, counter terrorism and the state’s modus operandi. At meetings, he would speak softy, slowly and concisely on issues and hold everyone’s attention with his layered and insightful analysis. At the Committee for Protection of Democratic Rights (CPDR) and Indian Association of People’s Lawyers (IAPL) both of which he was an active member of, everyone respected him for his knowledge and experience which was far beyond his young years and took his counsel on important issues including the legal cases.
He was good at explaining things and came to Tata Institute of Social Sciences to take classes for the students as a guest faculty. His honesty, extensive knowledge, unassuming demeanor, good looks, boyish charm, soft voice and self deprecating humor made him win over the students completely. They would be unwilling to let him go and the consensus every year was that his class was the best that they had ever had. He would tell the students about his childhood in Deonar and how during his growing years he saw the institute and dreamt of entering it one day and that he had never imagined that he would come there one day to take a class. He would open up and share extremely personal painful experiences with the students describing his years in the jail and the manner in which he was tortured. When asked which was the most painful torture that he went through- he replied, not being given food to break fast during the month of ramzan. He said that this was more painful than the physical torture that he went through. When students asked him what he felt the solution to the problems was, he would softly reply – justice.
He was a workaholic and spent hours perfecting his craft. He worked till late into the night on his cases with the diligence of a student taking an exam. It was important for him to excel in his profession. He would spend hours discussing a legal point or a judgment and one often wondered how someone who had been so short shifted by the legal system could have such touching faith in it. But his past had also made him defensive about himself. He felt the need to reiterate his faith in the legal and judicial system- the constitutional processes. Like most Muslims he was carefully circumspect in voicing his dissent and backed it with evidence, of which he had plenty. But that did not prevent him from taking up unpopular causes and engaging in larger political issues and defending alleged Maoists and the bomb blast and 26/11 cases. This despite the fact that the Anti Terror Squad of the Mumbai police had him under their scanner and was on the wait to manufacture an opportunity to get to him. He spoke about how accused in the bomb blast cases informed him that they were under pressure to name him in their “confessions” as an abettor. As he began achieving success as a lawyer, there was backlash and Shahid knew that the state was out to get him and tried to take precautions but he would not bring himself to turn his back on the people who frequented his office sitting for hours recounting horrific tales of state terror. He did not do it because he chose the difficult path, but because any ‘easier’ way out would have been far tougher for him. Having been through acute suffering himself he empathized with others’ suffering at a fundamental human level. It would have been impossible for him to live with himself had he given up this work. He probably always knew that he did not have much time and tried to pack in as much as he could into each and every moment that he had. It was not that Shahid was free from fears, but it was not fear that dictated his life, it was love that did.

Awami Bhrarat pays tribute to innocent victims of Pune terror attack
The day that "They Know" that "WE THE PEOPLE KNOW" – and that "They" cannot fool "The People" anymore, that day my dear countrymen, terror attacks will come to a halt!
The only way that we can fight the demon of terrorism is by revealing the truth and thus uniting the people across religions and nations for our common struggle against imperialism and for a global human society based on the principles of secularsim, democracy and social justice.

PRESS RELEASE: "Shaheed Shahid Azmi" is a true Indian Patriot.
AWAMI- BHARAT
"for a National Struggle Against Imperialism, Zionism & Brahamnism"
PRESS RELEASE
"Shaheed Shahid Azmi" is a true Indian Patriot.
Yesterday, Shahid Azmi (aged 32), the young & brave lawyer who was waging a lone but concerted legal battle for all those that he & a lot of us believed, were being framed in the various terror attacks, was murdered in cold blood. Three assailants entered his office in Kurla & shot him at point-blank range.
Amongst the many high profile cases that he was dealing were the the, 'Mumbai July 11, 2006 Train Terror' as well as the '26/11 Mumbai' attacks as well.
He had been clearly marked out & was receiving death threats on a regular basis. He had even notified the Police Commissioner but to no avail. The Police were well aware of the threats to his life & they are not denying this fact.
Clearly Shahid Azmi's legal battles were exposing the fabricated police versions presented in the Courts & thus the assassination.
Be it the cases of falsely implicating young Muslims in terror attacks, or the hundreds of cases of encounter killings, Shahid Azmi carried on undaunted. He was willing to take on the entire Government-Security-Police Apparatus & the Islamophobic propaganda of the Corporate Media. To walk on this path on the India of today, is to be reduced to an untouchable.
Yes he carried on undaunted, he continued to walk the path all alone.
Shahid Azmi's assassination is also a signal to all those who are questioning the "26/11 Mumbai False Flag Terror Attack".
But we will not be silenced . . . till we finally are. But there are others who will continue to speak . . there will always be . . . the struggle will never stop.
It is a signal to all those lawyers & activists who are defending the victims of police skulduggery & speak out against encounter killings.
It is a clear signal to keep mum, to walk away.
But we will continue to speak out & continue to expose all those forces that are complicit in this evil design.
Shahid Azmi is a Shaheed, a martyr to the cause of Freedom & Liberty.
Thus "Shaheed Shahid Azmi" - is a true Indian Patriot.

VENUE: THE SENA BHAWAN, OPPOSITE, AT THE PETROL PUMP, DADAR (WEST), MUMBAI
DATE: 11TH FEBRUARY 2010 / TIME: 4pm onwards . . . .
Our beloved city of Mumbai, infact our entire State of Maharashtra is being subjected to the politics of communal & linguistic chauvinism, especially over the period of the last two years & more. Now those very forces led by the Shiv Sena are targeting Shahrukh Khan (SRK) for having made a comment where he would have liked to see Pakistani cricketers in the IPL. Prior to that Mr. Chidambaram (Union Home Minister) had made a similar categorical statement in this regard, but the Sena prefers to target SRK. Moreover now that the very Governments of both India & Pakistan have initiated a formal process of dialogue, inspite of the clouds of terror that linger on, on what grounds can even Mr. Bal Thackeray or Mr. Udhav Thackeray continue to target SRK on those flimsy grounds.
Clearly now the Shiv Sena, with it's rapidly dwindling support is desperate to stall the process of the implosion of the party & their hope is to cling onto power in the Mumbai Corporation Elections scheduled for 2012. The Sena is now attempting to play the card of communal politics & hence the targeting of the film "My Name Is Khan" (MNIK). The Sena gameplan is to play the Hindutva card, so as to counter the Marathi Manoos card of Mr. Raj Thackeray, ably supported by the Congress & the NCP. Just ten days ago, as one would recall, CM Mr. Ashok Chawan had raised the issue of Marathi as the language that Taxi drivers should all know. This is even though 80% of the Taxi drivers are of North Indian orgin & obviously come from the lower-middle classes. This issue was then taken up by Mr. Raj Thackeray & he painted the town yellow & black.
Then to counter Raj, Udhav picked up on SRK. During that period came along Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who before coming to our city, added his little oil to the fire by stating that it was the NSG from UP & Bihar that had protected Mumbai. This was clearly aimed at reviving the Congress in the Hindi heartland. This statement was also an insult to all those Maharashtrians who died during the days of 26/11 & all those jawans protecting to the nation. Then Rahul, ably supported by the PR agencies in the media, went for a train ride & lo & behold, the Sainiks did not try & gherao him, even though we all knew where Rahul was & more so right in Dadar. So the Sainiks carried on with their charade for the TV cameras. The Rahul episode did deflate the aggression of the Sena & Mr. Thackeray pulled back his andolan.
But worse was to follow. Even as the 'MNIK' matter had seemed to die down, the 'unscheduled visit' of Mr. Sharad Pawar, who is under tremendous pressure due to the spiralling price rise, (Union Minister for Agriculture . . . . & some would say for cricket . .) has all of a sudden given strength to the flagging Sena leadership. Thus on the very next day the Shiv Sainiks began to target Cinema Halls. The Police apparatus then went into action & arrested more than 1000 Sainiks under preventive detention. The CM Mr. Ashok Chawan seems committed as of now, which only goes to prove that the violence that the Sena unleashes has always been done under the collusion & at times under the instructions of the Maharashtra Government. One would vividly recall the role of the Shiv Sena during the Mumbai Riots of 1992-93.
Now on the TV screens, Sainiks are stating that they will burn Shahrukh Khan alive. This is clear an attempt to build the atmosphere for a major anti-Muslim communal pogrom across Mumbai & the rest of the State as well.
Both the Government as well as the Shiv Sena (SS, how very apt) & the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), have been making a sheer mockerey of all the progressive values & principles that Maharashtra represents.
The land of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jijau Mata, Chattrapati Shahu Maharaj, Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Jotiba Phule, Savitri Bai Phule, Shri Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Shri Bal Gangahar Tilak, Sant Tukaram, Sant Namdev & other numerous Bhakti & Sufi Saints.
Even Mahatma Gandhi led the freedom struggle from the Sevagram Ashram in Wardha.
This was the land that has given us numerous revolutionaries, workers struggles & trade union movements & thinkers, intellectual & literary writers . . .
This was from where the Dalit Panthers were born & from where the flame of Bahujan Hitaya is now being lit in every corner of the country.
This state has been amongst the leading bastions of the freedom struggle & thus both Subash Chandra Bose & Shaheed Bhagat Singh are part of our political & cultural landscape.
Mumbai, the plural, secular & cosmopolitan city, that gave the clarion call - "British - Quit India", is now being reduced to a mockerey, a mere joke.
Mumbai is a microcosm of India. And Mumbai is being weakened! Maharashtra is being weakened! & thus India will be weakened!! The religio-linguistic faultlines are being deepened & they are hitting at the very foundations, at the very idea that is India.
We have to fight back to reclaim our rich heritage, we have to fight back to reclaim our cosmopolitan culture. We have to fight for our very soul, the soul that is embodied in the idea that is Mumbai, our city.
And for that we have to resist.
We thus appeal to all Mumbaikars' to attend the dharna.
In Solidarity.

India, Pakistan NGOs plan march in May to promote peace, harmony
================================================================================
PPI on 08/02/2010 15:26:00
New Delhi, More than a dozen NGOs from India in association with their Pakistani
counterparts are planning a march in May next to promote peace and harmony in
the region.
Feroze Mithiborwala President of Awami Bharat said march combination of a
Rath-cum-Padyatra would begin from Mumbai and follow route from Dahanu,
(Maharashtra), Surat, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Mehsana (Gujarat), Udaipur,
Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Jaipur (Rajasthan), Agra, Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Delhi,
Panipat (Haryana), Chandigargh (Haryana-Punjab), Ludhiana, Amristsar (Punjab),
Wagah (India-Pakistan border) before entering Pakistan and culminating in
Karachi. It is expected to travel over 2000 kilometers in India and around 1000
kilometers in Pakistan by May 31, 2010.
Saying consensus is building for India and Pakistan peace and vast majority of
people in both countries are in its favour, Feroze said at time when both
governments are now having talks, ``we would only be adding to creating larger
space within people of two countries, as well as powers that be." Titled as
India-Pakistan pilgrimage for peace and harmony, march has been borrowed from
Mahatma Gandhi's Salt Satyagraha launched during British rule in the
subcontinent.
"Considering religio-cultural history of South Asia, that has deep devotion to
Sufi & Bhakti Saints & for where Pilgrimages, either to Amarnath or Ajmer, are a
holy & spiritually purifying act, we chose name for our peace march", added
Feroze."Throughout course of our journey for peace, we would appeal to people to
contribute a Mutthi bhar mitti - fist full of soil, that would then be collected
from every city, town & village along the way. By this, people would feel that
they are part of larger process of peace & unity", he said.
Noting Peepal is tree under which Buddha received his enlightenment and South
Asia currently needs dose of same kind of enlightenment, he said, "We will also
carry saplings – preferably Peepal from each of these places & plant them in
GARDEN OF PEACE that we will create along with a PILLAR OF PEACE or
Bharat-Pakistan Shanti Stambh. This could then be made in all cities towns &
villages across the two countries. We do need lot of emotional markers on our
cultural landscape - We will create same with soil of two countries."

Second Anuradha Ghandy Memorial Lecture
The Anuradha Ghandy Memorial Committee cordially invites you to attend the Second Anuradha Ghandy Memorial lecture.
Topic: Will the US Meet Its Waterloo in Afghanistan and Iraq?
Speaker: Jan Myrdal
Date: 6th February 2010
Time: 4.30 PM
Venue: Multi-Media Room, St Xavier’s College, 5 Mahapalika Marg, Mumbai, 400001
Introduction to the Speaker:
The Swedish radical left author, writer and columnist, Jan Myrdal, the son of Nobel laureates Alva and Gunnar Myrdal, and a central figure in the protest movement against the Vietnam War, has penned more than 30 books, among which are Confessions of a Disloyal European (1968) and India Waits (1986). He is a prominent votary of the defence of civil liberties in the best traditions of liberalism, a trenchant critic of US imperialism and Israeli colonial settlements in the Middle East, and a supporter of the Islamic resistance as an authentic representative of popular aspirations there.
Anuradha Ghandy (1954-2008) was a leading organizer and thinker of the revolutionary movement in India. Early on, she developed a sense of commitment to the poor; she joined them in their struggle for bread and roses, the fight for a richer and a fuller life for all. Tragically, cerebral malaria took her away in April 2008. The memorial lecture is instituted in her memory to celebrate the spirit that made her selflessly adopt the cause of the damned of the Indian earth—the exploited, the oppressed, and the dominated—as her own.

An Open Letter to the Maharashtra Chief Minister
The Chief Minister
Maharashtra
Dear Mr Ashok Chavan,
Every society gives enough warning signals before turning totally anti democratic and fascist in nature. If we go back in history we will find that even in fascist Germany the first attack came on the freedom of expression of artists and intellectuals. It is very natural as the struggle for peace, democracy, secular thought, justice and communal harmony is waged by sensitive and creative people. The dream of an equal and just society has always been projected by either the mass movements of ordinary poor and marginalized people, secular political forces, human rights activists or has been portrayed by artists, poets, film makers, theatre directors etc. So those people whose agenda and preoccupation is to spread hatred and disharmony always attack the artists, activists, intellectuals and thinkers.
Unfortunately in the past we have ignored these danger signals and violent acts thus allowing the perpetrators of hate mongering not only to go scot free but also to further vitiate the atmosphere.
What has been happening in Maharashtra the past few months is absolutely shocking and is an attack on the democratic rights of the citizens of not only Maharashtra but all Indians.
I am writing to you as a member of the National Integration Council, Ministry of Home Affairs and I request you to immediately take steps to ensure that the goondaism unleashed by the Shiv Sena and MNS is stopped immediately.
I request you to ensure that Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan , whose effigies were burnt in Mumbai and especially Shahrukh Khan, who has received threats in the past few days, are given adequate security, that there is no disturbance when their films are released or screened in theaters. I request you to ensure that no taxi driver or auto rickshaw driver is harassed for not knowing or speaking Marathi (its good that you backtracked on January 20 from a similar unconstitutional stand on the question of issuing licenses to the taxi drivers) and that their constitutional and democratic rights of working or living in any part of India are not violated by Shiv Sena hoodlums on the roads.
The kind of filthy language which is being used and threats which are being issued against the senior leaders of your own party are absolutely unacceptable and need to be condemned strongly.
I request you to urgently arrest and prosecute those who are behind the recent incidents.
Sincerely yours
Shabnam Hashmi
