Meeting to discuss the "India-Pakistan Peace Yatra" & "India to Palestine Convoy to End the Siege of Gaza".

Dear All,

I) "INDIA - PAKISTAN YATRA : AMAN KE BADTE KADAM"

As most of you are aware that the Peace yatra is due to start from Mumbai on the 28th of July & culminate on the Wagah border on the 14/15th of August. A yatra from Karachi will also wind its way to the Wagah border. We have worked out an intensive campaign across the city, involving various social organizations, college students & certain bastis as well. The Yatra will commence from Mani Bhawan (residence of Mahatma Gandhi), where certain leading political leaders & dignitaries have confirmed their presence. (A detailed programme is attached herewith)

II) "END THE SIEGE OF GAZA - SOLIDARITY CONVOY FROM INDIA TO PALESTINE"

We are also in the process of initiating a nationwide movement in coordination with the International movement to End the Siege of Gaza.

Over the course of the last two months, we have been exploring & discussing the possibility of a Convoy that will begin in India & will go via Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt & into Gaza-Palestine. (Attachment No. 2)

We are coordinating this process across the nine countries as well as with the European, North African & American initiatives. An effort of this gargantuan proportion has never been attempted from India & we are confident of organizing this historic convoy. We are receiving a tremendous response from all quarters, both from within India as well as from across the 9 countries & the larger international movements.

The presence & involvement of India, lends an entirely different political hue to the international movement for the Liberation of Palestine.

The Delhi meeting for the same will be held on the 26th of July & the process will continue across the various cities in the country, so as to build a broad consensus through a democratic process.

Our aim is to create a larger INDIAN as well as an ASIAN movement for the cause of PALESTINE. Thus the initiative has been undertaken by the India Palestine People's Solidarity Forum. (Attachment No. 3 & 4)

We have therefore invited the representatives of the various Political Parties, Trade Unions, Dalit-OBC organizations as well as those that of the Religious Minorities.

The meeting to discuss both these major initiatives, will be held at:

Sadbhavna Sangh, Dosti Trust, Arya Soap Premises, Kiddy Land Nursery, 16 Hansraj Lane, Byculla Police Station (East), Mankeshwar Mandir, Mumbai - 27.

Date: Saturday, 24th July '10 / Time: 6-8pm.

In Solidarity,

Varsha V V, Feroze Mithiborwala, Kishore Jagtap & Sheikh Muhammad Hussein.
