From Murder Mystery To Spy Thriller: The Continuing Saga Of The Mumbai Terror Attacks

From Murder Mystery To Spy Thriller: The Continuing Saga Of The Mumbai Terror Attacks

A great deal of new evidence concerning the 26 November 2008 terrorist attacks in Bombay has emerged over the past year. This includes the book Who Killed Karkare: The Real Face of Terrorism in India by S.M.Mushrif, a former police officer with a distinguished record, who uses news reports during and just after the attacks to question the official story; the book To the Last Bullet by Vinita Kamte (the widow of Ashok Kamte) and Vinita Deshmukh; revelations concerning Hemant Karkare's bullet-proof jacket and post-mortem report; the David Coleman Headley trial; and the trial of Ajmal Kasab, Fahim Ansari and Sabauddin Shaikh. I do not include the Ram Pradhan Commission report on police responses to the attack, for reasons I will explain.
The Headley Affair
The Headley affair has, predictably, grabbed a great deal of publicity. The fact that the FBI had been investigating the involvement of this American in conducting reconnaisance for the 26/11 attacks seems to have come as a revelation to the Indian investigators, who had a chance to apprehend him but instead chose to detain two Indian Muslims, Fahim Ansari and Sabauddin Shaikh, for preparing maps of 26/11 targets.
It has been established that Headley was an agent of the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and his plea bargain leads us to conclude he was also a US intelligence agent: in other words, a spy. It is also known he was involved with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and supplied information to them about targets attacked on 26/11. There are three possible explanations that would fit these facts:
1) He started off as a US intelligence agent, but was won over by the LeT, and was acting on their behalf.
2) The US intelligence agency employing him was complicit in the 26/11 attacks. Since the most likely fallout of such attacks would be increased tension and even armed clashes on the Pakistan-India border, and since it appears to be a priority of US foreign policy to reduce such tension, this would suggest that Headley was being handled by a rogue element in US intelligence.
3) The third possibility is that he remained loyal to the US agency, which in turn was following US policy. His brief, unknown to the FBI, was to infiltrate the LeT, find out their plans, and report to the US agency so that those plans could be foiled. In order to infiltrate the LeT, he had to win their trust by participating in their activities, including preparations for their Bombay attacks, and while he was doing so, the FBI got on his trail. He did, in fact, pass on intelligence of the planned 26/11 attacks to his US handlers, who in turn passed it on to Indian intelligence.
All these are plausible scenarios, but what more or less rules out 1) and 2) is that, as Mushrif reminds us, US intelligence did alert the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) on 18 November 2008 that an LeT ship was trying to infiltrate Indian waters with hostile intent and provided its coordinates, after having earlier warned of an attack from the sea on coastal hotels (pp.182-87). Headley was the likely source of this intelligence. If he was an LeT agent, why would he pass it on to the US agency? And if the latter wanted the attack to succeed, why would they pass on the intelligence to RAW? So 3) seems the most likely explanation (Miller 2010).
If it is doubted that a US intelligence agency could conduct operations without the knowledge of the FBI, we have an example closer to home which illustrates precisely such a possibility. On 6 December 2008, Tausif Rehman and Mukhtar Ahmed were arrested by the Kolkata police for supplying three SIM cards for the cellphones of the Mumbai attackers. Initially seen as a breakthrough in the investigation, the arrests soon became an embarrassment when it was discovered that Ahmed was an Indian intelligence operative who had infiltrated the LeT. Clearly, this was a case of Indian intelligence acting without the knowledge of the Indian police. These SIM card numbers (among others) were passed on to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on 21 November with strict instructions to monitor them, and they were, in fact, used by the terrorists to keep in touch with their handlers in Pakistan (Mushrif, p.185).
According to news reports, it appears that on 19 November, RAW passed on the US intelligence to the IB, which on 20 November passed it on to the Coast Guard and the Principal Director of Naval Intelligence. However the Coast Guard was unable to locate the ship (possibly because it was still in Pakistani waters) and asked the IB Joint Director for more information. He promised to revert, but never did. Nor, according to Mushrif, was the Mumbai police, Maharashtra government, or Western Naval Command alerted to the looming threat. This proved all the more disastrous because the Mumbai police had suspended its normal coastal patrols near Badhwar Park (where the terrorists landed) forty days before the attack, despite warnings of an attack from the sea (Mushrif, pp.182-87).
If the Western Naval Command had joined the search, if the Mumbai police had stepped up instead of suspending its coastal patrols, and if the SIM cards had been monitored to find out the precise location of the terrorists, they would surely have been intercepted, either on the high seas or when they came in to land. This looks like something much more sinister than an intelligence failure, namely complicity by elements in Indian state institutions in waging war against India.
The fact that the terrorists were not apprehended before they could carry out their deadly attacks would have put Headley in a very difficult position. If he had been a fictional hero like Samir Horn in the Hollywood thriller Traitor – who, like Headley, uses his mother's surname and participates in US undercover operations without the knowledge of the FBI – Headley would have taken on the Pakistani handlers, emerged victorious, and aborted the mission. But in real life, given that it was more likely he would have been killed and the attack would have occurred anyway, he presumably decided not to risk it. If this is what happened, is Headley responsible for the attacks? Yes and no. Yes, because he staked out the targets and provided information to the LeT in his capacity as a US spy. No, because he provided precise, actionable intelligence that could have been used to prevent the attacks. This is surely what accounts for the lenient treatment he has received at the hands of the US authorities.
Why would prior intelligence of the attacks be blocked?
But why would Indians block intelligence that could have prevented the terrorist attacks of 26-29 November 2008? Mushrif's explanation is that the IB has been infiltrated by Hindu extremists who in the last few years have changed their strategy from fermenting communal pogroms to carrying out terrorist attacks and blaming them on Muslims. Hemant Karkare, in his capacity as Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Chief, had begun to uncover this network, and had to be stopped at all costs; the terror attacks on the Taj and Oberoi Trident hotels and Nariman House provided a perfect cover for a parallel operation which was aimed at eliminating Karkare. (See Hansa 2009a and 2009b for my earlier observations on this issue.)
Savarkar's directive in 1942, asking Hindu nationalist cadre to infiltrate organs of the state, supports Mushrif's allegation of Hindu extremists infiltrating the IB, which is also borne out byOpen Secrets, the memoirs of former IB chief M.K. Dhar. According to K.P.S. Gill, Dhar ‘starts out in life as a self-confessed hater of Muslims,..never loses his sneaking sympathy for the “Sangh parivar” and makes no secret of his sympathy for, and sustained association with, some of its prominent leaders' (Gill 2005). Indeed, Mushif may be understating the case by leaving out other organs of the state that are similarly infiltrated. Communal bias within the police force is demonstrated in every pogrom, and Karkare's investigations provided evidence that the rot had spread even into the armed forces.
Evidence that Muslims have been framed in real or imaginary terrorist plots is plentiful too. In a few cases in which they were killed, relatives have brought charges against the police: for example, Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife, Ishrat Jahan and three others, and Khwaja Yunus, accused of involvement in the Ghatkopar blasts of 2002 (Janwalkar 2008). In most cases, their lives and reputations are ruined by their being held in jail for years and tortured on terrorist charges without any evidence against them. Thus the police response to the Hyderabad blasts of May and August 2007 was to round up Muslim youths indiscriminately and torture them to obtain confessions. Twenty-one victims of torture who were later released without charge were given a small compensation, but no action was taken against the police who had incarcerated and tortured them ( IBNLive 2008).
This consistent pattern of framing Muslims even for attacks in which the overwhelming majority of victims were Muslims, as in the case of the Samjhauta Express train blasts in 2007, could not have been sustained without the participation of the IB and police. Investigations into the Nanded blasts in 2006 revealed that bombs made by the RSS and Bajrang Dal had earlier been set off at mosques in Parbhani (2003), Jalna (2004), and Purna (2004), and were about to be used in another terrorist attack in Aurangabad when they went off prematurely. But half-hearted prosecutions allowed members of the network to get away. Ironically, local protests at the way the case was being mishandled led to its being transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which further diluted the charges (Mushrif 153-67)! Initial investigations by the local police pointed to Hindutva groups as the perpetrators of the blasts at a Muslim festival in Malegaon in 2006 that killed over 30 and injured hundreds, yet again the police, the Maharashtra ATS (then headed by K.P.Raghuvanshi) who took over from the police, and the CBI who took over from the ATS charged Muslims against whom there was no evidence whatsoever (Khan 2010). It appeared that Hindutva terror groups could commit mass murder with impunity (Gatade 2008).
It is against this dismal background that the first bona fide investigation into a terrorist attack, carried out by Karkare in 2008 after the second round of Malegaon blasts, stands out in such sharp relief, because it followed the clues in a logical manner, did not accuse innocent Muslims of crimes they had not committed, and did not cover up the role of Hindutva terrorist networks. What was particularly sensational about these findings was that they revealed how wide and deep the network had become, and unearthed evidence that earlier bomb blasts (for example the Ajmer Sharif and Mecca Masjid blasts in 2007) for which Muslims had been blamed, arrested, jailed and tortured, sometimes for many years, were actually the handiwork of Hindu extremists. Abhinav Bharat, headquartered in Pune, appeared to be the centre of these operations. Mushrif's book sifts through evidence suggesting that these and many more terrorist attacks were planned and executed by Hindutva terror networks.
Karkare's revelations were confirmed recently, when the Rajasthan ATS arrested two Hindutva activists linked with Abhinav Bharat and suspected of involvement in the Ajmer Sharif, Mecca Masjid and Malegaon blasts ( Insurance News 2010; Nair 2010). And Mushrif's allegation that Karkare had been killed by the same network in order to preempt their own exposure gains credibility from the murder of advocate Shahid Azmi on 11 February 2010. Like Karkare, but in his capacity as a lawyer rather than detective, Azmi had time and again exposed police investigators who framed Muslims in terror attacks alleging that they were members of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Indian Mujahideen, and other real or fictitious Islamic terrorist organisations (Sahi 2010). His defence of Fahim Ansari, one of the accused in the 26/11 case, is a good illustration of his methods as well as those of the police and prosecutors. Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam's story was that Ansari had made maps of the city and handed them over to co-accused Shaikh in Nepal; Shaikh in turn allegedly handed them over to Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi in Pakistan, and one of them was supposedly found in the pocket of Abu Ismail after he was killed. Azmi's cross-examination of Nooruddin, who claimed he had seen Ansari hand over the maps to Shaikh in Nepal, revealed there was no evidence that Nooruddin had ever been to Nepal; and showing the court the blood-soaked clothes of Ismail, Azmi asked, ‘How could the police recover the map spotless and uncreased?' These arguments clearly carried weight with Justice Tahaliyani, as did the unanswered question why they would have relied on hand-made maps when better ones were available on the internet (Holla 2010)! But to those involved in framing Ansari, Shaikh and hundreds of other innocent Muslims, Azmi was clearly a thorn in flesh who, like Karkare, had to be eliminated.
Evidence of Two Distinct Operations, One Aimed at Killing Karkare
Mushrif lists several reasons why the operation at CST (VT) station-Cama Hospital-Badruddin Tayabji Lane could not have been part of the same operation as the Colaba attacks at Café Leopold-Taj-Oberoi/Trident-Nariman House. (1) 284 Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) messages were received by the gunmen in Colaba from their handlers in Pakistan, but not a single one by the gunmen of the former operation, who, on the other hand, dropped mobile phones with SIM cards registered in Satara. (2) The gunmen in Colaba were instructed by their handlers to spare Muslims, whereas 40 per cent of the victims killed by the gunmen in CST station were Muslims, most of whom looked Muslim. (3) The gunmen in Cama Hospital spoke fluent Marathi – a fact reported in various newspapers and confirmed by a senior IAS officer – and spared an employee when he told them he was a Hindu (pp. 190-95). To these, one might add a few more observations: The targets of the Colaba operation were high-profile ones frequented by the Indian elite and foreigners, whereas VT station would have been frequented by middle to lower-class people, and Cama Hospital by the poor. The timing is different too: the Colaba operation went on for three days, while the other one ended as soon as Karkare was dead; the gunmen could have ensconced themselves either in the station or in the hospital and fought to the death like the others, but instead they went scuttling around from place to place: a completely different modus operandi .
The mystery that continues to surround the circumstances in which Karkare and his colleagues were killed, and what looks like a deliberate cover-up by the police, strengthens the impression of an assassination. First, there is the riddle of the missing CCTV footage of the carnage at VT station. Immediately after the attack, the media reported that the entire episode had been captured on the sixteen CCTV cameras in the mainline station (Mushrif, pp.210-211), but some time later, it was reported that they had all been malfunctioning. All? One or two, perhaps, but are we seriously being asked to believe that not a single one was working on that particular night, whereas all the cameras in the surburban section were functioning? It seems highly probable that this is a case of tampering with the evidence, which could only have been done by agencies which had access to the tapes. (K.P.Raghuvanshi was chief of railway police at the time, and would certainly know who did it.) Why would the police tamper with this critical evidence? In the first place it would have established that there were not two but four terrorists, as eyewitnesses and all the newspapers reported the following day; and secondly, it might well have cast doubt on the allegation that Kasab was one of them.
Then there is the scandal of Karkare's missing bullet-proof jacket. In response to a Right to Information (RTI) application by his widow Kavita Karkare and a complaint filed by a social activist, it became clear that the jacket had gone missing. At first the police alleged that a sweeper at JJ Hospital, where the post-mortem was conducted, had thrown it away, but Ms Karkare angrily dismissed this story as a fabrication, and the sweeper himself later denied it. One explanation for its disappearance was that this was an attempt to cover up the fact that it was part of a defective batch, but in that case, why didn't all the other jackets in the batch disappear too (SahilOnline 2009)? The police officers taking Kakare's body to the hospital would certainly have been aware that ‘Under the norms stipulated by the criminal procedure code (CrPC), the police taking an injured or dead person to the hospital have to draw a panchnama in presence of the hospital staff, listing all the items found on the body of the victim. Not only this, these items are then to be sealed and referred to the forensic science laboratory, if needed, or kept in safe custody till the trial in the case is over' (Parmar 2009). If, in contravention of normal procedure, the bullet-proof jacket of such a senior police officer was destroyed, this clearly amounts to tampering with the evidence.
In response to allegations that the jacket had been removed to destroy evidence of police corruption in the buying of bullet-proof jackets, Karkare's post-mortem report, which had initially been denied even to his widow, was released to the press. It showed that there were five bullet entry wounds on top of his right shoulder-blade, between his neck and shoulder, and three exit wounds in his right chest and right shoulder, while two bullets remained in his body (Menon 2009). This casts serious doubt on the official version of Karkare's death, according to which terrorists in the lane ambushed the vehicle in which he was travelling along with other police personnel. In the absence of a convincing analysis showing how they could have shot him on the top of the shoulder-blade with the bullets going downwards, and identification of the bullets and gun with which he was shot, there is considerable room for doubt about what actually happened. If he was indeed killed in the vehicle, the autopsy report appears to be more consistent with his being shot by the police personnel inside it. Furthermore, it does not look as if the wounds would have been fatal if he had received immediate medical attention. Finally, the trajectory of the three bullets that exited his body suggests that one of them might have lodged in the inside of his bullet-proof jacket; if it came from a police weapon, that could have been the reason why the jacket was tampered with.
Curiously, the verdict says that all the bullets passed through Karkare's body (Plumber and Shetty 2010). So what happened to the two bullets that were found in his body at the autopsy? What happened to the bullets that passed through him? Were they found in the vehicle, in his bullet-proof jacket, or elsewhere? Why has the gun from which they came not been identified?
All this makes clarification of the events of the 26/27 November night in Badruddin Tyabji Marg (locally known as Rangbhavan Lane), where Karkare, Kamte, Salaskar and other police personnel were supposedly killed, all the more important. The best account we have is by Vinita Kamte, herself a lawyer, who interviewed eyewitnesses and used the RTI Act to extract information from an obstructive police force. It appears that Commissioner of Police Hasan Gafoor decided to lead the operations at Trident Hotel, leaving the Control Room in charge of Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Rakesh Maria. Ms Kamte knew from a telephone conversation with her husband that Gafoor had summoned him to the Trident: how, then, did he end up at Cama? Maria told her that he did not know, yet when she got access to police call logs, they revealed that he himself had directed Ashok Kamte to Cama. Karkare too was at the back of Cama, inside which firing and grenade blasts were taking place. At 23.24 on the 26th he called the Control Room saying he was there and requesting that a police team be sent to the front of Cama Hospital to encircle it. He reiterated his request to the Control Room for reinforcements at 23.28 so as to encircle Cama. There were three police posts two to five minutes away, yet no reinforcements were sent.
Instead of reinforcements, two young people with backpacks arrived at the corner of St Xaviers College, at the end of the lane. At around 23.45 they gunned down Inspector Durgude when he tried to warn them there was firing at Cama, then fired at the car driven by Maruti Phad. Phad's family, who were watching from their apartment above the lane, as well as other residents and two constables from Azad Maidan Police Station, all called the Control Room for help, but still none arrived. According to eyewitnesses, the terrorists were wandering around the lane for over fifteen minutes. Around midnight, officers Karkare, Kamte and Salaskar got into a vehicle and proceeded towards the CID Special Branch office, which is on the way to the lane's exit beside St Xaviers. Karkare had told the constables and officers at the rear gate of Cama that he was proceeding to the front gate in order to help rescue the police personnel injured and trapped inside the hospital, where firing was still going on. Despite all the desperate calls to the Control Room from residents and police, Karkare was not informed that there were terrorists ahead of them in the lane.
At around 00.03-00.04 on the 27th, the police vehicle was ambushed in the lane, and residents reported an exchange of fire between a man in police uniform who got out of it (presumably Kamte) and the terrorists, in the course of which one of the terrorists was shot in the hand and dropped his gun. Another police vehicle with flashing beacon went past the ambushed vehicle while the terrorists were still in the lane, but neither stopped to help the injured men and confront the terrorists, nor informed anyone that help was needed. Not until 00.47 were the three officers picked up and taken to hospital, by which time it was too late to save their lives. At 00.56, Gafoor called Maria in the Control Room to enquire about Karkare's and Kamte's safety, and Maria feigned ignorance of their whereabouts despite the fact that call logs show Karkare had called the Control Room at 11.24, 11.27, 11.28 and 11.58 giving their location at the back of Cama, and others had called the Control Room at 00.25, 00.33 and 00.40 saying that they were injured in the lane, and finally at 00.49 saying that they were being taken to hospital. Vinita Kamte keeps asking ‘Why?' and she is surely entitled to know (Kamte and Deshmukh 2009, pp. 36-61).
The Ram Pradhan Committee failed to uncover any of this information, and refused to allow Vinita Kamte to depose before them (Kamte and Deshmukh, p.68). Instead, as former police officer Y.P.Singh puts it, their report ‘chastises the whistle-blower and exonerates the culprits'. Gafoor, who had charged police officers for failing to go to Cama when they had been instructed to do so, was criticised by the report for leading the action at Trident instead of stationing himself in the Control Room, and was removed from his post, despite the fact that it was entirely within his discretion to do this (Singh 2009). No one else was criticised. In other words, the Ram Pradhan Committee report scapegoated Gafoor and whitewashed the rest of the police force.
Vinita Kamte's account makes it clear that terrorists attacked the police officers in Rangbhavan Lane while firing was still going on in Cama, that reinforcements were not sent despite repeated requests, and that help was not sent to the injured officers until they were almost sure to be dead. It is commonly assumed that the terrorist whose hand received a gunshot wound was Kasab, but that is impossible since Kasab had no bullet injuries when examined in Nair Hospital (Hemmady 2008). However, the CNN-IBN report from Metro Junction shortly afterwards, where a man who looks like Karkare and is identified as such by the reporter is being carried into a car unconscious, shows a youth with a bleeding hand: could he have been the one in the lane? In fact, the Metro incident has never been explained satisfactorily, nor have the people in the clip been identified; this remains to be done.
The Kasab Trial
On 3 May 2010, the trial of Ajmal Kasab, Fahim Ansari and Sabauddin Shaikh in Bombay ended with an acquittal for Ansari and Sabauddin and a guilty verdict on over 80 counts for Kasab, who was sentenced to death on May 6th. His so-called flip-flops, sometimes confessing to most of the crimes with which he had been accused and at others pleading his innocence, alleging he had been framed and that the confessions were extracted from him by coercion, make it particularly important to review the evidence against him. From his experience as a police officer, Mushrif points out that DNA samples and fingerprints supposedly recovered from the fishing vessel Kuber that had been out at sea for many hours could hardly be credible evidence, since it could so easily be tampered with. The only witness who saw the terrorists disembark from the rubber dinghy at Badhwar Park and actually spoke to them, Anita Uddaiya, said there were six people not ten, and Kasab was not one of them. Despite her proving her reliability as a witness by identifying all six in the morgue, she was not only dropped as a witness, but charged with ‘misleading the investigators' as a punishment for refusing to change her story under pressure (Mushrif, pp.202-206). This leads to the suspicion that other witnesses too were coerced into corroborating the official story, and dropped if they refused. How else can one explain why Cama employee Tikhe had to drink ten glasses of water before identifying Kasab as the terrorist who spoke to him (Baghel 2010)? Or why the other Cama employee, who was questioned in Marathi by a terrorist pointing a gun to his head and saved himself by replying in Marathi (Mushrif, pp.192-93), was not called as a witness?
In the absence of CCTV footage that could prove Kasab's presence in VT station, the two photographs snapped by Sebastian D'Souza (photo editor with Mumbai Mirror) became, as a comprehensive report of the verdict put it, ‘the most irrefutable evidence against Ajmal Qasab in the 26/11 trial' (Baghel 2010). Kasab denies that he is the person in the photograph, and if we look at another photo of the same person, which is easier to compare with images of Kasab because it is taken from the front ( topnews.in 2010), there is indeed room for doubt that it is Kasab. It is also notable that both gunmen snapped in VT had saffron wristbands worn by Hindus; it surely would not have been necessary for Muslim jihadis to wear these as a disguise! So this evidence does not seem irrefutable after all, unless analysis of the photographs by an expert identifies the person in them definitively as Kasab, something that Kasab's lawyers did not ask for.
However, we cannot really blame Kasab's lawyers for failing him. As his earlier lawyer, Abbas Kazmi, complained bitterly, "I was not allowed to talk to him alone. He would be in the courtroom, in the box, and I would go up to him and speak to him in the presence of the security guards who could hear everything. Even the media could hear half of what he was telling me… In such a situation, where the normal interaction between the lawyer and his client was not confidential, how could he talk about anything freely? On one occasion he told me, 'yeh jail bhi unka hai, yeh judge bhi unka, yeh prosecutor bhi unka hai, aur mera vakil bhi unka hai [This jail is theirs, this judge is also theirs, this prosecutor is also theirs, and even my lawyer is theirs]'. He obviously had misgivings". After Kazmi was dismissed by the court and replaced by Pawar, the trial proceeded at breakneck speed (383 witnesses in 15-20 days), and the final defence was summed up in just one-and-a-half days (Baghel 2010).
Apart from eyewitness accounts and the photographs, the main evidence against Kasab comes from his own confession, which he later retracted, saying it was extracted from him under duress. One can only say that if the part of his confession implicating Ansari and Shaikh was a police fabrication, the rest of it could have been a police fabrication too; and if the police and prosecution could have planted maps to incriminate Ansari and Shaikh, they would have been equally capable of planting a gun to incriminate Kasab.
Finally, Mushrif questions the whole story of the capture of Kasab at Girgaum Chowpatty, and surely it would have been psychologically impossible (not to mention a dereliction of duty) for Sub-Inspector Ombale's police colleagues to allow a gunman to pump bullets into him without attempting to save him by shooting the gunman dead! And that, indeed, is what appears to have happened. According to newspaper reports the next day, as well as an audio tape of wireless communications between the Mumbai Police Control Room and the Commissioner of Police, bothgunmen were killed at Chowpatty. Could one of them have been Kasab, who was pronounced by doctors at Nair hospital to have no bullet injuries and only minor abrasions and bruises (Hemmady 2008)? Is it credible that the police could have been so stupid as to report a terrorist dead when he was practically uninjured?
Under these circumstances, is it safe to conclude that Kasab is guilty of the eighty-odd charges beyond all reasonable doubt? Not really. Anita Uddaiya's testimony suggests there is no evidence he landed at Badhwar Park or had any connection with the Colaba operation. Since the crucial CCTV footage is missing, there are only photographs, which have not been analysed sufficiently, to connect him with the carnage in VT. Even the verdict admits there is no evidence he killed police officers Karkare, Kamte and Salaskar (Plumber and Shetty 2010). It is unlikely Kasab was one of the Marathi-speaking gunmen in Cama, and even more unlikely he was one of the gunmen who was killed at Girgaum Chowpatty. Given the seriousness of the charges and the fact that they carry the death sentence, a miscarriage of justice in this case would not only result in the execution of an innocent man, but would also discredit the Indian legal system. Worse still, if it results in the illusion that those who were responsible for the carnage in VT and the murder of police officers Karkare, Kamte and Salaskar have been punished, whereas the real culprits are free to wreak more havoc, it would directly undermine the safety and security of the public. It would therefore be desirable for Kasab's guilty verdict to be appealed. The trial in a higher court should answer all the questions raised above about tampering with evidence and witnesses, as well as explain the extraordinary sequence of events at Cama Hospital, Rangbhavan Lane and Metro Junction. And Kasab should be able to communicate with his lawyer without being overheard by his captors, thus facing a threat to his person should he contradict their story.
Mr Chidambaram, the Home Minister, is quite right when he says that extra anti-terrorist legislation is not needed for dealing with terrorists ( The Hindu 2010). What is needed, however, are honest and intelligent detectives like Hemant Karkare. Given the suspicion of IB and Maharashtra police involvement and/or complicity in the 26/11 attacks, it would be desirable that investigations into them be conducted by a completely different team of detectives, perhaps from the National Investigation Agency, who are of the calibre of Hemant Karkare. Since the US has agreed to allow Indian investigators to question David Headley, he would obviously be the best person to cast light on the Colaba attacks, and there should be pressure on the government of Pakistan to provide access to the Pakistani conspirators whom he names as well. But there should also be investigations into who in India was responsible for blocking the intelligence and preventing the attackers from being intercepted. Investigations into what exactly happened in VT station, Cama Hospital, Badruddin Tyabji Road and Metro Junction should be able to clarify what happened to the CCTV footage from the mainline station, Karkare's bullet-proof jacket, and the two bullets from his body. All other evidence, including the photographs taken at the station, TV footage of the incident at Metro, post-mortem reports, police wireless logs, the cellphones dropped by the terrorists at VT, and the vehicle in which the police officers were supposedly killed should also be seized and analysed. The same team should investigate the murder of Shahid Azmi, who was defence lawyer for one of the accused, and the other terror attacks in various parts of the country which were being investigated by Karkare prior to his death.
If extremists are allowed to infiltrate India's state institutions unchecked, its constitution and secular character would eventually be destroyed. Hemant Karkare and Shahid Azmi lost their lives while trying to save India from this dire fate. We must ensure that they did not die in vain.

Why RSS Wants To Forget Pracharak Sunil Joshi's Murder?

Why RSS Wants To Forget Pracharak Sunil Joshi's Murder?
By Subhash Gatade
28 May, 2010Countercurrents.org
I.
It was a murder of an old activist, which the RSS would love to forget. It is a different matter that despite the innumerable ways in which it has tried to banish the memory of the whole incident it has found it very difficult to get away with it. And with the latest exposures in the Ajmer Dargah bomb blast case the whole issue has once again returned to haunt it.
A former RSS pracharak, who was an accused in the murder of a Congress leader and his son, was shot dead in Dewas town, about 35 kms from Indore, late on Saturday.
Sunil Joshi, 45, was strolling in Chuna Khadan locality when assailants, who used a Maruti van and a two-wheeler, shot him thrice. He was declared dead on arrival in the district hospital. (Indian Express, Posted: Mon Dec 31 2007, 00:00 hrs)
Yes, there was a time when the very name of this slain activist (a Pracharak in the Sangh parlance) evoked awe in the Malwa region of M.P. - supposed to be a stronghold of the Hindutva brigade. No doubt this clout had endeared him to many top leaders of the RSS as well as the BJP. And he was privy to many of their secrets as well. But all that is passe. Mention his name today in any gathering of these top leaders and you will either witness silence or many of his close associates in the Parivar presenting convoluted explanations to show distance from him.Formally, at present he is a persona non grata in the Sangh Parivar.
It does not then appear surprising that although his murder occured more than two years ago but still officially nobody knows who planned it and then executed it. Despite the fact that the state government where the said murder occurred is being ruled by BJP not much headway could be done. In fact, after its own failure in unearthing the case, it did not deem it necessary even to ask the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigations) to take up the case. As of now for the state government in M.P. and its police force as well as his Parivar people the preplanned murder of Sunil Joshi is a 'closed file.'
Question naturally arises after all why did the RSS-BJP preferred to remain silent over the death of one of their Pracharaks and did not try to find out the real culprits behind the murder. Of course, it did make routine noises like blaming 'Islamic terrorists' for the act. Activists of Hindu organisations did cause a ruckus in the hospital where Sunil Joshi’s body was taken after the bullets of the assasins hit him, they did block traffic on the Agra-Bombay highway for some time, and gave a bandh call next day in protest. There were also reports in a section of the media about the way in which they tried to avenge his death by attacking innocents unrelated to the whole case. For example, in Putarkheda village, 30 kilometres from Dewas, a family belonging to a minority community was attacked by miscreants on the day of the bandh . Abdul Rashid was shot dead while three of his family members were injured in the attack. One of them was shot at, one was stabbed and the third’s face was scalded when the assailants threw acid at him.
Last days of this Pracharak are also confounded in mystery. There were reports that at the time of his death Sunil Joshi was leading a underground type of life. Why was he compelled to do that despite BJP being in power in the state ? Did he have the premonition that someone was after him and he had to defend himself. ? Who wanted to kill/eliminate him ? Whether a section of the Sangh/BJP Parivar itself had felt threatened with his activities and wanted him banished from the scene as he was privy to many of their secrets ? Or did the Parivar itself, which demanded utmost secrecy, entrust him with some special mission.
As it always happens needle of suspicion in this case did move initially towards the 'usual suspects' i.e. the omnipresent Jihadi/fassadi terror groups but looking back one finds that these allegations were for public consumption only. If that would have been really the case, the overactive Hindutva regime in the state could have arrested many innocents from the minority community and had seen to it that life is made miserable for their family members also. But that did not happen. A more plausible explanation behind this murder then seems to be the internecine differences within the larger Parivar itself over matters other than politics. Were it over funds collected by these fanatics to further more violent version of the Hindutva project. Later day developments seem to corroborate this explanation.
All these questions have become very relevant as with the latest exposures in the Ajmer dargah bomb blast case another RSS Pracharak - a close friend/associate of Sunil Joshi - named Devender Gupta and Chandrasekhar Patidar have been arrested for their involvement in the execution of this datardly plot. And a close link between three bomb blasts -Malegoan blast (Sep 2008), Ajmer dargah bomb blast ( ) and Mecca Masjid bomb blast - and their perpetrators has emerged. Devender Gupta alias Ramesh Kumar is learnt to be the mastermind in training people in use of explosives and (to quote Mr Digvijay Singh further) "..use to train activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in bomb making. He use to stay with RSS Pracharak Sunil Joshi in Dewas and also happened to be one of the accused in the Mhow bomb blast,2001, where six members of RSS and VHP were found to be involved." ( Jagran Rashtriya, 15 th May 2010, translated from original Hindi)
In a report filed on CNN-IBN, Arunima provided details about 'RSS members behind Hyderabad, Ajmer blasts'Posted on May 14, 2010 at 21:42
New Delhi: Two members of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) - Devender Gupta and Chandrashekhar Barod - have emerged as the prime suspects in the Hyderabad's Mecca Masjid and Ajmer blasts. As links between the two blasts become clearer the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is increasingly looking at involvement of Hindu terror groups...
"There is a link between the Ajmer Sharif blast and the Mecca Masjid Hyderabad blast," CBI Director Ashwini Kumar says. Both blasts took place on a Friday right after the namaz (prayers). Both used low intensity explosives, kept in tin boxes with iron pipes folded around them. Cellphones were used to trigger both explosions; using SIM cards bought with the same fake identity and Telugu newspapers were used in both cases to wrap the bombs.
The Rajasthan Home Minister, Shanti Dhariwal, confirmed the links to The Hindu newspaper saying, "Colonel Purohit, arrested for Malegaon blast, has confessed that Sunil Joshi had organised the Dargah operation with the help ofGupta."
IIAs told earlier the death of Sunil Joshi did evoke an immediate reaction from the Hindutva activists but with the passage of time and their leaders lack of initiative in the case, the news itself was largely forgotten. The Malegaon bomb blast and the subsequent investigation of the case undertaken by the Maharashtra ATS under the leadership of Hemant Karkare suddenly changed the situation. It is now history how this most significant counter-terrorism investigation since the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi exposed the bitter truth that Hindutva terrorist group was responsible for a series of unsolved bombings so far blamed on Islamists: the February 2007, firebombing of the Samjhauta Express; the attack on the Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad that May; and the October 2007, attack on the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer.
Many facts linking Sunil Joshi, a hardcore RSS pracharak, and his group of people to the earlier bomb blasts in the country also came to the fore. It was revealed that the motorcycle used in the Malegaon bomb blast - which earlier belonged to 'Sadhvi' Pragya had been loaned to Sunil Joshi. After his death, the vehicle had been passed on to still-missing bombing suspect Ramnarayan Kalsangram, who is alleged to be hiding out with Hindutva supporters in Gujarat.
Col Purohit, a key accused in the bomb blasts case also told the investigators that it was Sunil Joshi only who had conceived and executed the bomb blast in Samjhauta express.
Skeletons started tumbling out of the cossett and people discovered that this RSS Pracharak was one of the key links in many terrorist attacks inside the country which were earlier blamed on 'Jihadi' terrorists. In fact, Indore where this Pracharak lived emerged as a key centre of many of these terrorist attacks. One could see that either its Malegaon blast, Mecca Masjid or Ajmer terror strike, the accused are being arrested from Indore only. The planning was done here. Even investigation trail in Samjhauta Express case had reached Indore but the Haryana police returned empty handed and said that police of M.P. has proved to be non-cooperative.
It would be foolhardy to think that MP police was not aware about Sunil Joshi's shadowy organisation that was based in Indore. It must have been aware of Samir Kulkarni's Abhinav Bharat that was functioning from MP. But it appears that bowing to their political bosses the state police didn't act then even though local Hindi papers printed tonnes of material about them.
It was during Mr Digvijay Singh's second tenure as Chief Minister of M.P. that Sunil Joshi and his close associates had planted bombs at Bhopal's major Islamic gathering of tablighi jamaat that attracts 1 million Muslims but due to the surveillance of the state police then, the bombs could be detected in time and a major tragedy could be averted. Police under BJP rule had rather decided to turn a blind eye towards the activities of these rightwing militant/terrorist groups. It is only when CBI and central investigative agencies reached Indore that the activity began.
A report 'Dead Man's Tale Holds Key To Hindutva Terror Secrets' which appeared in a leading national daily (The Hindu, Nov 20, 2008, Praveen Swami) provided significant inputs to the Sunil Joshi 'saga'."...Maharashtra Police officials say the testimony of a witness — whose identity has been withheld for his protection —links Joshi to the Samjhauta Express attack.
Lt. Col. Purohit, the witness claimed, made the claim after a December 29, 2007, phone call, when he was informed of Joshi’s death. “After the phone call,” a senior Maharashtra Police official told TheHindu, “our witness says Lieutenant-Colonel Purohit credited Joshi with having executed the Samjhauta Express attack, and hailed him as a martyr.”Maharashtra Police sources said that, according to the witness, Gujarat-based Hindu-nationalist leader Jatin Chatterjee made the call. Mr. Chatterjee — widely known in southern Gujarat by his clerical alias, Swami Asimanand — runs the controversial Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, which operates a Hindu-proselytisation programme targeting adivasis in southern Gujarat.
...Forensic experts note, though, that there is one significant structural similarity between the Samjhauta Express bomb, and those used in the Mecca Masjid and Ajmer Sharif attacks: a length of grooved metal piping, of the kind used in tube-wells, as a case for the explosives.
Police have also known, for long, that the Mecca Masjid and Ajmer Sharif attacks were linked. The SIM cards of the mobile phones used to activate the bombs used in both attacks were among a set of seven purchased by the perpetrators from West Bengal and Jharkhand in April 2007. In both the Mecca Masjid and Ajmer terror strikes, the bomb-maker who fabricated the explosive devices had the phone’s speaker connected to a detonator.
III.
One could say that just when the involvement of Sunil Joshi in being a key operator of the Hindutva terror network came to the fore his other criminal activities also reached headlines. His role in the murder of Pyar Singh Nenama, a Congress leader also came under fresh scrutiny. Indore, May 14: (Indian Express) One more person has been picked up in connection with the Ajmer dargah blast by Rajasthan ATS, police said on Friday.
Lokesh Sharma, 36, was picked up and detained by the Rajasthan Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) while he was along with his family members at Lasudia police station area of Chhindwara district late on Thursday night, they said. Sharma, a resident of Indore, is an accused in the murder of Congress leader Pyar Singh Nenama, who was killed at Manpur locality of the district in August 2003, police said. He was arrested in connection with Nenama murder case and is out on a bail, they added.Sharma along with former RSS parcharak Sunil Joshi has been charged in Nenama murder case. Joshi, whose name has also figured in Ajmer dargah blast investigation, was shot dead in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district in December 2007, police said.
Consequent to the detention of Lokesh Sharma the Rajasthan ATS has also detained an industrialist Rajesh Mishra from Pithampur in M.P. in connection with the Ajmer blast case. Both Mishra and Sharma were once accused in the 2003 Ninama double murder case. Discussing this detention Express reporter emphasises "RSS Pracharak Sunil Joshi, who the investigators believe was the brain behind some of the unsolved case of terror, was also an accused in the double murder case." (Express, 17 th May 2010, Industrialist detained in MP)
Would it be proper to believe that Parivar people were unaware of their fellow activists controversial actions ? Or, it was part of their overall modus operandi where they have been found to be skillfully combining the parliamentary BJP with the extra-parliamentary Bajrang Dal to further the cause of Hindutva. Any layperson who is familiar with the hierarchial and disciplined nature of the Parivar would find it hard to believe that Sunil Joshi acted on his own ?
To be very frank Ajmer bomb blasts and the deeper involvement of RSS Pracharaks in it just reiterates what has been whispered in secular circles but the mainstream media had never dared to acknowledge. It is not for nothing that a deeper and all round investigation into all such terror related cases has been a long running demand of secular forces/individuals which can clarify whether RSS itself is involved in the Hindutva terrorist actions or it has deputed someone to organise it under its noble notion of 'division of labour' or there is another dimension to the whole phenomenon.
Mohan Bhagwat, the 'young' Supremo of RSS has to do a lot of explaining about the sudden spurt in his Pracharaks going wayward (as he would like us to believe). But the list is bit long. Perhaps he should just browse through few of the bomb blasts in the country which were earlier blamed on 'Islamic fanatics' and later discovered to be handiwork of people/formations floated by the RSS or one of its affiliated organistions or people fired with its ideology. Ajmer, Mecca Mosque, Malegaon, Kanpur, Tenkasi, Nanded I and II and the list continues.
Or there is 'method in the madness' ?

13/2 PUNE TERROR: THE FLASE ENTRAPMENT OF ABDUL SAMAD

13/2 PUNE TERROR: THE FLASE ENTRAPMENT OF ABDUL SAMAD -
P. CHIDAMBARAM, R R PATIL & RAKESH MARIA EXPOSED

by Feroze Mithiborwala (27/05/2010)

Clearly the strategy of the Chidambaram plan to torpedo the Indo-Pakistan initiative, undertaken by the PM Dr. Manmohan Singh has yet again been thwarted. It was on the very day of the PM’s press conference (only his second in six years), that the ATS announced the news of a major breakthrough in the Pune terror attack & linking the same to Pakistan. On that very day the perpetrators of the attack on the Indian Embassy in Kabul were also caught & obviously traced back to Pakistan. Too many coincidences for a day, we would say. This was similar to the Madhuri Gupta affair that was leaked to the media, just prior to the Manmohan-Gilani talks in Timphu.
But the entire doctored and ill conceived Pune terror story lies in tatters. The media has reported the official story but has also raised certain important questions & pointed to some glaring flaws.

There are conflicting reports about Abdus Samad that have appeared in the media.
(A) LINKS:
1) He is supposedly a contract killer, an arms supplier for the Chota Shakeel gang & linked to an arms cache in Mumbai, 2009.
2) Linked to the Indian Mujahedeen.
3) No criminal record or of any involvement in terror related activities & has been given a clean chit by the Karnataka police. He completed his studies in Bangalore in 2008 & left to Dubai on a valid passport & visa to look for a job. The Bangalore police stated in 2008, that Samad had no links to the IM. His mother has stated that her son has always cooperated with the police & had always been present for questioning, which was on a regular basis.
(B) CCTV FOOTAGE:
1) Footage from the Cash Counter CCTV.
2) Footage from CCTV from the nearby ‘O’ Hotel. Thus even the simple question of ‘which CCTV??’ itself is contradictory.
3) CCTV footage was hazy, extensive damage & later reconstructed to show Yasin Bhatkal, who was later identified by an ‘informant’ as Abdul Samad, the elder brother.
The ATS had always maintained that they had no footage from within the confines of the German Bakery. The footage that they had access to was collated from the CCTV's in the adjoining buildings, but which was of a very hazy quality. The ATS Chief Mr. Maria had stated that they had a certain software that could recreate the image. I wonder if they have even bothered to use it. The present image is as clear as can be & looks like as if it has been planted.
(C) DUBAI TO MANGALORE FLIGHT:
1) Report of ATS having arrested Samad as he landed in Mangalore on the basis of a tip-off.
2) Report of two RAW agents having accompanied Samad from Dubai to Mangalore.
3) Samad had left for Dubai on an Air-India flight, with a valid passport & visa, with a return ticket, to look for a job.
(D) CALL RECORDS:
1) As Samad was clearly under surveillance, why was he not being tracked through his telephone calls??

2) Was or was not his phone tapped??
(E) Says the ATS, "He was identified after 20 days as having planted the bombs"
1) Then why did the ex-ATS Chief Raghuvanshi refer to Sarang Kulkarni, Prashant Juvekar of the Abhinav Bharat as suspects?? Even the Central Home Ministry raised the possibility. Raghuvanshi had stated that Kulkarni & Juvekar had been spotted in Pune prior to the terror attacks.
2) The ATS has also said that he is not linked to Pune 13/2 or to Mumbai 26/11.
3) Later the ATS 'source' stated that the German Bakery ‘Waiter & Cashier are the prime witnesses’.
4) Then says the ATS, that Samad had begun to ‘talk’, after initially denying his involvement.
The family has countered the ATS version by showing a videography of a family wedding held in Mangalore during that period. There are a more than a 100 witnesses who are ready to testify to this fact. They have screened the video for the media in Mangalore. The family has engaged a prominent Mumbai Lawyer Mubin Solkar to fight the case.
An ATS Officer comments that the video has put them in trouble & that now forensic investigation & testing of the video will finally prove the story or otherwise.

This is the same ATS that has framed Muslim youth in Malegaon, Ajmer & Hyderabad. That delayed the investigation into the Nanded blasts. This is the same ATS that tried to frame Fahim Ansari in the Mumbai 26/11 terror attack, by fabricating evidence & concocting witnesses. This is the same ATS that said that Latif & Riyaz were going to burn down the ONGC and maybe half of our city, but they did not have access to petrol.
Ridiculous lies, lies & more lies.
Our ATS is very good at catching innocent Muslim youth even if they are in Dubai, but cannot catch the masterminds, bomb makers & planters of the Abhinav Bharat & Sanatan Sanstha especially in Maharashtra.
Even thought the ATS had the information since atleast 2008, if not earlier, that it was the Sanatan Sanstha (SS), Abhinav Bharat (AB) & RSS activists that were involved in Malegaon ’06, Ajmer Dargah, Hyderabad Mecca Masjid, Samjhauta Express terror attacks, yet Mr. Chidambaram, Shivraj Patil, RR Patil, Mr. Raghuvanshi, Mr. Rakesh Maria, the IB, CBI, RAW - all chose to keep quite & carry on catching & torturing Muslim youth. They need to all face criminal prosecution in the Court of Law.
Even though Malgoan Patil was staying at the SS Ponda Ashram for 4 years whilst carrying out a series of terror attacks, the Maharashtra ATS refuses to arrest Jayant Athawale, who is the main mastermind behind the terror attacks across the country. The Centre & State governments refuse to investigate the entire Sanatan Sanstha chain across the country, with their links abroad, as well as their financial dealings, especially their sources of foreign funding.
Apart from targeting the Diwali festivities in Margoa on October 16, 2009 – where the Goa CM was to visit – the SS terrorists were also planning to blow up the SHANTADURGA TEMPLE AT SANCOALE. We had also stated that the SS plans to target the VITHOBA PANDHARPUR MANDIR as well.
THE POLITICAL ANALYSIS:
We stand by our analysis of the 13/2 Pune terror attack:
1) It was masterminded with the intent to target the Indo-Pak talks scheduled for 25/02/10.
2) To cover up the murder of Advocate Shaheed Shahid Azmi on 11/02/10, by members of the Chota Shakeel gang at the behest of certain officers within the Police, ATS & the IB.
3) The Israeli-Mossad angle was clear as they tried to create sympathy by harping on the myth of the Chabad House as a target.

4) Also the Jaipur 13/4 blast was a week prior to the Indo-Pak talks, and so is the case with the Ajmer Dargah attack as well.
Currently important foreign policy changes are underway. The PM continues to pursue the Indo-Pakistan peace process. He also is also pursing the relationship with Iran & is opposed to US sanctions. The Iran-Pakistan-India Gas pipeline is a distinct reality. The track with China is proceeding as well. This is to the detriment of the Israeli interests & that of US. The Foreign Minister Mr. SM Krishna made an unprecedented statement that the government was willing to trust Pakistan on terror. India is also active amongst the BRIC, IBSA, NAM & is seeking full membership of the SCO. Clearly India is again reaching out to the other emerging powers with full knowledge of the fact that the US-Israel-EU axis is on the decline & that a Multi-Polar World is emerging.
Chidambaram, supported by the RSS-BJP (clear on the Dantewada issue), as well as the Israeli Lobby, is attempting to destroy the Indo-Pakistan peace process. This was evident from the Madhuri Gupta tapes that were released prior to the Manmohan-Gilani talks, the racheting up of the media barrage on Afzal Guru & now the Abdul Samad case – which he obviously links to Pakistan.
Chidambaram has visions of being the next PM & is positioning himself for the same. He derives his power from the Corporates, the BJP-RSS as well as the Israeli Lobby.
We therefore demand that:
1) Mr. P. Chidambaram (Union Minister for Home) be forced to resign as he is clearly poses an internal & external threat to the security of our nation.
2) The role of the RSS-Sanatan Sanstha & the Abhinav Bharat be investigated across the country, the organizations be banned & their international financial & organizational terror links be probed.
3) That Mohan Bhagwat (RSS), Himani Savarkar (Abhinav Bharat) & Jayant Athawale (Sanatan Sanstha), should be immediately arrested.
4) Identify the anti-national, communal & Brahmanical casteist officers within the Intelligence-Security apparatus, namely the IB, RAW, NIA & the ATS - & investigate their role in fomenting, abetting & the subsequent coverup of the terror attacks.
5) Investigate the linkages between the security-intelligence agencies & the Underworld Mafia, namely the Chota Shakeel & the Chota Rajan Gangs as well as to Dawood Ibrahim.
6) Identify the political leader who made public the Madhuri Gupta tapes to target the talks between PM Dr. Manmohan Singh & PM Gilani, as well as the officials who are involved in the entrapment of Abdul Samad.

Unravelling Hindutva Terrorism

EPW Editorial
25 May, 2010Economic And Political Weekly
Communal prejudices have compromised our battle against terrorism

When the bombs went off at Malegaon in September 2006, killing about 40 people and injuring many more who had gathered for the Friday afternoon prayer at a local mosque, the first arrests were of Muslim men who were supposed to belong to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). The police claimed to have cracked the case. Less than a year later, in May 2007, when a similar bomb exploded in Hyderabad’s Mecca Masjid killing nine people, the police claimed that these were "sophisticated" bombs detonated via a cellphone located in Bangladesh and the main culprit was supposed to be a Muslim man affiliated to the Harkat-ul-Jehad al-Islami (HuJI). The police arrested some random young Muslims from the city and tortured them into confessing their "guilt". Six months later, when another bomb went off on the eve of the last Friday of Ramazan, in the Ajmer shrine in Rajasthan, it was again blamed on "jehadi terrorists".
It has taken the courageous, if simple, act by Hemant Karkare, the anti-terrorism squad chief of Maharashtra police, of following the available leads to show the linkages between the Malegaon bomb blasts and Hindutva-linked groups. Without this one single act, all these linkages would, perhaps, have remained hidden behind the lies and half-truths dished out by our security establishment. As is well known now, a group called Abhinav Bharat organised this attack. This group includes some religious figures as well as a serving officer of the Indian Army. There have been other clear instances of Hindutva groups involved in bomb making in Nanded, Kanpur, Bhopal and Goa. Most of these are linked to the Bajrang Dal, which is a front of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). There is now a clear linkage between the RSS and its fronts and personnel and a series of bomb blasts. This is apart from the evidence, much stronger, which links this redoubtable organisation, to scores of communal killings, the Gujarat riots of 2002 being the last of its "big" examples.
If terror derived from religious fundamentalism has one headquarter in India, it is the RSS. Their younger siblings, the Islamic, Sikh or Christian fundamentalists, though dangerous in their own ways, cannot match the organisational network, financial muscle or political legitimacy that the RSS – its affiliates and personnel – possess. After all, India’s principal opposition party is a 100% subsidiary of the RSS and it is the shrill communal politics of this "family" which has created that political climate where any terrorist act could be, despite all evidence, linked to Muslims.
Nevertheless, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism among Muslim communities is a serious issue. It has dangerous consequences, not just for its regressive social and political effects on the Muslims themselves, and needs to be fought with vigour. Islamic fundamentalism has also incubated and nurtured terrorist organisations and initiated violent acts, not just in India but also all over the world. None of this can be denied nor can the guard against Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism be lowered.

However, it is now amply clear that our security agencies, government institutions and ministries, specially the home ministry, are deeply compromised by communal prejudice. In each of the cases highlighted above, and in many more, the prima facie evidence, both forensic and circumstantial, pointed to the involvement of Hindutva groups. Yet, unmindful of all evidence, they refused to follow open, clear leads pointing to Hindutva groups, but rather went around building fairy tales about Islamic terrorism’s involvement, picking up random Muslim men (and some women), torturing them till they accepted their "guilt" and finally claiming success in the case. As late as January this year, when the Hindutva terror link to Malegaon had been firmly established, and the Rajasthan police were already questioning the accused of the Ajmer blasts for their links to the Mecca Masjid bombs, the Hyderabad police was merrily arresting Muslims who, they claimed, were linked to the Mecca Masjid blast of 2007. The complicity of the Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh police in the murder of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife, or the killing of Ishrat Jehan and her friends is now clearly established. There is also prima facie evidence of communal prejudice and wrongdoing in police action in cases like the Batla House encounter in Delhi. Unfortunately, the list of cases where communal prejudice by the police and security establishment is evident is so long that it can fill volumes.
While there has been some effort to recognise and address caste and gender prejudices and discriminations, there has been a certain cussedness about not accepting and redressing the discrimination and prejudice against religious minorities, particularly the Muslims. The present United Progressive Alliance government has taken some commendable steps to address this issue, primarily through reports of the Sachar Committee and the Ranganath Misra Commission. These have opened up space to discuss the structural discrimination and prejudice against Muslims in India as well as the measures needed to redress this. It is also true that the criminal link between Hindutva groups and bomb blasts has come to the fore under this regime. Nevertheless, this is not sufficient; urgent steps are needed to disinfect our security establishment of the communal virus. Whether the present Home Minister P Chidambaram can measure up to this task, and whether the Congress Party can find the political will to take on Hindutva inside the administration and state structures, is an open question.

TERRORISM HAS AN AMERICAN-ISRAELI PATENT

BC, AD & WTC, the new age has begun, post WTC or 9/11, the age of terrorism, where, suddenly the sleeping terrorist & media reviewed their policy as if they co-ordinate for a common goal, to ‘Create an Industry’ for their leader.
Naturally the self-proclaimed leader has the patent right to fight the global enemy, later distributing the patenting rights to the leader’s client.
Today when few giant firms lost their patented global enemy called ‘communism’, terrorism emerged as a savior and the self proclaimed leaders hurried to patent, later distributing its rights to its clients.
Modern terrorism has an American- Israeli patent, government being the agent of distribution and India the client state. The client distributes the terror domestically consulting the owner, exemplifying the business strategy of misleading advertisement of terror.
To manage this billion dollar patent, Intelligence is created, who then, in the name of better customer service helps the terror company grow big making it capable to have more client, until every single company/country decides their role as a supporter or oppose.
Then the war begins, Good vs. Bad, Evil vs. God or Christ vs. Anti- Christ where peace becomes anti- national & patriotism is the only option to survive. The leader’s patent industry loses its scope when the good wins the battle. However, until then, money gets accumulated & all needs help, whether good or bad. Finally the same owners distributes/ loans their wealth with an unsaid condition……with a new global enemy, with a new industry. Countries power may shift but the royal families are the same, patent owners are the same.

Pune Blast and Aftermath: Political Analysis

By Winnie Thomas, Awami Bharat

1) The strategic timing & warnings
Awami Bharat has always stated the fact that every blast has its own political motive internationally and domestically since the day, India allied US- Israel patented, War on Terror. Strategic timing of blast exceeds all coincidence, raising the issue to a concrete political hypothesis. 13/2 Pune Blast was a deliberate attempt by outsider/ insiders to defile the following,
i) Indo- Pak talks.

· Twelve days left for talks, its 13 /2, 7.00pm and the bomb explodes in Koregaon Park,German Bakery, Pune. First statement released by foreign min. S.M. Krisns, “India will not agree to composite talks”, “Terrorism Is the Only Issue”, ‘motive established.’
· The primary reason behind the blast on 13 February 2010 was undoubtedly subverting the Indo-Pakistan dialogue that has been dismissed since 26/11, with the Foreign Secretaries to meet on the coming 25th. The implications of the blast limited the scope of talks to Terrorism, where, India bargained an upper hand while Baluchistan, Kashmir and Water dispute, where Pakistan alleging India of stealing water & building illegal dam, prioritized by Pakistan, went unheard.
· The reason Indian government agreed for talks is its susceptible nature to US who wants a strategic Indo- Pak peace for handling the losing battle in Afghanistan. America have realized the importance of regional power ie. Pak, to manage Afghanistan, which could be only achieved if temporary, resolve the Indo- Pak conflict and thus the American Mouth, Pakistan Basher ‘Times Of India’ , suddenly propagated Indo- Pak peace process ‘ Aman Ki Asha’.
· There have been two international conferences on Afghanistan, held in London and Istanbul (India Avoided/Uninvited respectively) in which Imperative policies to withdraw foreign troops from Afghanistan, has been formulated, leading to which Indo- Pak talks gained momentum. Sidelining India, exemplifies the need of west, to espouse Pakistan, threatening India’s scope for its vested business interest in major Afghanistan sectors. Strategically, Pune blast damaged the idea if Indo-Pak peace, sending a clear message to US & West of India’s needed share in Afghanistan.
· Unlike US & the West, Israel who is now criticized by major countries for its aggressive policies against Palestine & Iran wants India –Pak conflict continued, for its scope to be the epic centre of III world war.
· The Mumbai attacks of November 2008, took place during the visit of Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, here to 'fast-track' the 5th round of the composite dialogue.” Even the Jaipur terror attacks of 13th May, 2006 occurred a week prior to the proposed Indo-Pakistan Foreign Ministerial talks. And many of these terror attacks have been established as handiwork of Hindu right wing group (news source)
· Also, consider the timing when Madhuri Gupta caught spying for Pakistan made headlines and the Indo- Pak SAARC talks in Bhutan on 30 April. When peace talks exist, violence persist.

ii) Cover-up of Advocate (Shaheed) Shahid Azmi’s murder on 11/2
· Advocate Shahid Azmi the courageous man who had the guts to singlehandedly manage the abhorrent political pressure and threats, while he served the innocent from being the victim of Politics of Terror, exposing the role of IB and RAW in an deliberate attempt to marginalize Muslim community was assassinated on 11/ 2, two days prior to Pune blast.
· Amongst the many high profile cases that he was dealing were the, 'Mumbai July 11, 2006 Train Terror', Ahmadabad, Ghatkoper, Malegaon, as well as the '26/11 Mumbai' attacks as well. Shahid was to argue the final debate on Fahim Ansaris case, the 7/11 accused.
· He was involved in exposing the fabricated police version of false detention in courts threatening the Police- Intelligence- Mafia nexus.
· He had been clearly marked out & was receiving death threats on a regular basis. He had even notified the Police Commissioner but to no avail. The Police were well aware of the threats to his life & they are not denying this fact.
· India’s Chitpawan &Konknasta Brahmins who has collided with Israel and has an agenda of Hindu Rashtra by 2018 felt un-tenable, when Shahid obstinately investigated & attempted to exposed the Rightwing- Police- Israel- IB nexus. Awami Bharat had initiated exposing the same nexus Shahid was up to.
· Ajit Sahi, Veteran journalist (TEHELKA), calls Shahid Azmi a martyr, states; if anyone benefits from Shahid Azmis murder is the IB, RAW & government itself.
· Surprisingly the Shahid Azmis murder made headlines and front page directly arising the need to cover-up the issue.
· Pune blast sidelined Shahid’s murder, vindicating real culprit, diverting the political pressure to investigate truth. Shahid was, assassinated in reference of Pune blast, the same political game implicated during 26/11 killing Kharkhare, Salaskar & Kamte.
· Shahid Azmi's assassination is also a signal to all those who are questioning the "26/11 Mumbai False Flag Terror Attack

iii) Prior warnings went unheeded/ignored.
· It’s no secret that the Indian intelligence had warned the government of attack in Pune, Koregaon Park which was accepted by the media, and all major political parties, but the state refuses the claim.
· In Pune, police on October 9, 2009, sent advisories to various establishments, including the German Bakery and its manager Praveen Pant even acknowledged receipt of the police's letter. However, the German Bakery and some other establishments did not pay heed to the warning. Again, in December 2009, the same advisory was reiterated. The Minister, who was responding to a supplementary question in the Lok Sabha on the Pune blast, said: “Despite the intelligence shared, despite the advisories issued, the Pune blast occurred. It is a blot. I regard that as a blot on our record.”The Centre monitors and reviews the internal security situation on a continuous basis. “Intelligence inputs are regularly shared with State governments and Union Territories and wherever necessary, advisories are also issued.” ( THE HINDU )
· Also, a German lady who called 100( police), citing an unclaimed bag in German Bakery only two days prior to blast was avoided by police. This negligence seems deliberate considering the warnings/ advisories sent to German Bakery in Oct. and Dec. 2009.
· An article in Asian Age (16th Feb. 2010) states German Bakery Blast was planned four to five months ago as said by Mohamed Amjad, alias Khwaja to the RAW. Khawaja also revealed about a former Pak army officer who showed them the photographs of German Bakery & Osho Ashram. There wasn’t any reference of Chabad House.
· Asian Age article also states; Intelligence sources said, the information from Khawaja, was shared with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Maharashtra Govt. well before terrorists carried out the Pune attack.
· Interestingly, on 14 Feb 2010, home secretary G.K Pillai confirms, Headley stayed close to Chabad House and Osho Ashram while in Pune, a finding that he said has lead the Centre to issue an advisory to the Maharashtra police and Pune police on October 12, 2009 . (Times Of India)
(Satyapal Singh was aware of possible terror strike )
· The CIA- HEADLEY saga is visible as mentioned above & Awami Bharat with meticulous research has always considered Headley under CIA’s garb, who masterminded various blast in India on CIA’s behest. Incidentally, David Headley was involved in all those blast where Right wing terror network was uncovered, which includes, Malegaon, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Shamjauta, Mecca Masjid, Ahmedabad but still the intelligence didn’t suspect Abhinav Bharat & Sanathan who has a strong base in Pune.
· In spite of such solid evidences of terrorist attack, the barricade near German Bakery was, removed 10 days prior to the incident and within two hours of the blast, the fire brigade destroyed all the evidence.

2) The location

The location selected for the blast had multiple advantages if considered the international US- Israel strategy and the scare created by the media.

i) European Myth
· Propaganda haul by media lead us to believe the target of blast was European and Chabad House, whereas neither European nor Jews died. The once who died was our own Indians and Asians.
· German Bakery is known to be a spot of Iranians & Asians not Europeans.
· Koregaon Park is not a tourist destination with beach, boat, bikini, or scenery. The only reason for Koregaon, being a foreign destination is the Osho Ashram located near German Bakery.
· The Pune Blast took place at 7.00 pm, the time when all foreigners enter the Osho Ashram for meditation. If Europeans were the target then why the so-called intelligent IM & Headley planned the attack in odd hour killing Indians and Asians? Now shall we call it as a coincidence or planned incidence?

ii) Chabad House Theory
· Chabad House/ Jewish prayer house was the prime target set by terrorist, as said by the Pro- Israeli Indian media and the government.
· Those who have seen Pune Chabad house, would conclude the Media- Govt. theory of failed attack on Jewish house as gibberish and dissent any such logics.
· To the Left of Chabad house is an empty KHANDAR from where attack would have been a child’s play, whereas in right of Chabad house similar KHANDAR exists. Then why the terrorist select such a complex planning oriented destination of attack ie. German Bakery? Who would still believe the Police- Media- Govt. theory of failed attack on Chabad house?
· Current awareness of defiled Israeli politics, the decades long genocide of the Palestinian population and the International criticisms Israel face today, SYMPATHY IS WHAT THEY NEED.
· Zionist Israel is up-to, creating a worldwide sympathy by misguiding masses, corrupting media and govt. of various countries, for the public support they need.
· Attack on Jews by Muslims automatically repudiates the truth, turning the tables, portraying Islam as a global enemy, where victim countries like Palestine are framed villains.

iii) Marginalization Of Community
· What followed the blast was strident- unconstitutional police behavior, deliberately victimizing Muslim community.
· Every day approximately Twenty Muslim youth for different parts of Pune, was, detained in the name of terrorist suspects. Hardly any time did the police have arrest warrant.
· Muslim name or grown bared would be many time the criteria of the arrest. Eg. Police sources named ‘Wasim’ and then the police detains and harassed every single Wasim in search operation.
· Children’s were even illegally detained and kept under police custody, harassed using abusive words. In many instances, parents were abused, whereas some parents were never informed about their child’s arrest. Police would enter a Muslim house any time in the night harass parents and try to defame them in the society.
· Many innocent youths were termed as Pakistani and tried to create false evidence.
· In many instances, a mob of Fifty to Sixty police with two-three wan would enter a society, harassing innocent Muslim whereas auto drivers, bikers, pedestrian, etc would be stopped-held, if he had a beard or had a Muslim name.
· Many Muslim youths were, silently detained at night, taken to an unknown location, generally a Jungle or a Farmhouse, with his eyes tied, changing different police & private wan.
· When questioned to Pune Police Commissioner, Satyapal Singh about such unconstitutional incidents, he says, “I don’t know about such things taking place”. Satyapal Singh was Commissioner of Police when the infamous KHAIRLANGI took place.
· In addition, majority of shops near German Bakery, all owned by Kashimri Muslims for more than Twenty Years, were demolished. These shops were built under the building compound with NOC given by the society.
· These shops paid Tax, Electricity bills, Telephone bills as per the laws, but suddenly after the blast, the corporation issued notice, terming the shops to be illegal, leading to demolition. The same situation, of illegal demolition was faced by Kashmiri shop owners, 4 to 500 meters away from German Bakery.
· A clear attempt of Islamophobia was preached by the Police and Pune Corporation, whose attempt to solve the Pune Blast remain unsuccessful but the order to mislead and marginalize a community was beautifully performed.

3) Chasing criminals

Awami Bharat’s investigation following pune blast leads us to conclude: The Criminals were decided prior to Pune blast.
i) Biased Media Judgment
· Within minutes of the blast, media suspects IM terrorist, for masterminding the attack whereas, police after Two months is still clueless.
· Within two months media confirms IM for masterminding the attack, but Police still today have not revealed any conspirators of attack.
· Soon after Pune blast, explosives which contained ammonium nitrate, gelatin sticks & detonator were seized in Vapi ( Gujarat ), Indore, Limdi, Surendranagar district …… the same material said to be used in Pune blast, but all such news had corner place in newspapers only because the detained carried Hindu names.
· Media also hyped Pune blast as the first terror attack after 26/11, sidelining the Goa Blast (DATE ) which had Abhinav Bharat mind.
· With no solid evidence or hypothesis, the media tried to copy- paste the information provided to them by their so-called ‘sources’. IM is an artificial child of Indian Intelligence Beau raw compiled by few, low profile gangsters like Batkal brothers. Medias source, speaks similar words like, Intelligence Beauraw theories, while commissioners like Satyapal Singh, Raghuwanshi & Rakesh Maria never addressed press conference blaming IM or SIMI or SIMI International or Mujahidin Islam Muslim Front or al- alami or IM Kashmir, all claiming the attack.
· Media states handpicked IM of having strong base in Pune. Interestingly, Abhinav Bharat – Sanathan Sanstha from decades, have been rooted in Pune, with their headquarters in the city. Pune blast hold the same pattern of Rightwing terror (below point iii) but media hardly suspected their role, as their ‘sources’ said the IB’s logic.
· Hardly any media heard the plight of innocent youth, children’s and their parents when detained, defamed, and harassed in the name of terrorist. Hardly any journalist listened, to the crying of Kashmiri shop owners, when their shops were illegally demolished. Hardly any news was reported, when thousands joined the rally conducted by BBA, against victimization. Pune incident would portray media as Police Bulletin.
· Pune Blast sidelined Telingana issue, Ram Pradhan Report Discussion, Price Rise and Shard Pawar who then was in headlines for lobbying with private, leading price rise.
· Majority of India’s news sources, have lost their will to investigate, find truth and write fearlessly, from the date, they being termed as Corporate Media.
· Finally, media never asked the Question, “Who Benefitted From the Blast”.

ii) Biased Police Investigation
· The scope of investigation was shattered within two hours of Blast when the fire brigade pumped in water destroying major evidences. German Bakery was, issued warnings by police, two times as stated in Point 1) iii), also the RAW stated that German Bakery photo was, shown to the arrested terrorist Khawaja. Then what made the Police & Fire Brigade think, it was a cylinder blast? Hadn’t in two hours the agencies found the difference between cylinder and bomb blast? Were the fire brigade and police so inexperienced? It’s a matter of investigation.
· While police still clueless the media charged Indian Mujahidin and for no particular reason investigators started hunting all kind of Muslims day and night. When the name ‘Wasim’, was, made known to police by their source, more than 100 Wasim’s were, detained harassed and defamed. A maulana, who was in pune for job belonging to Batkal, was, caught and termed Pakistani. Later he was, released for lack of evidence.
· In one such instance, indistinct image of former ATS chief Raghuvanshi, was suspected, when we came to know that the terrorist arrested for failed ONGC plot was framed in a rape case by a Jain girl’s father six months prior to his arrested for being a terrorist who was trained in Pakistan. In majority instances, a person having petty criminal case is, framed as terrorist. Hence, the status of investigation lead by then Raghuvanshi had intrinsic feature of biasness.
· Police directed their investigation in a way, as if Muslims were the real cause of attack not IM as said by the media.
· In spite of the mounting evidences and logics of Rightwing & Israel’s role in Pune Blast as mentioned in point 3) iii), no concrete actions were taken nor any investigation took place.
· Pune Police Commissioner, Satyapal Singh started, ‘Operation Mritunjay’ in which college youths would spy, to counter terrorist threats. ‘Mriyunjay’ was another attempt to turn local youths against Muslims.

We welcomed governments decision to debar Raghuvanshi as ATS chief, placing Rakesh Maria who we expect to be much expedient in solving the Pune Blast. Today he too seems to follow Raghuvanshi lines.

iii) Rightwing Role neglected
· The pune blast as stated in Point 1 (i), was of international importance to Israel and India’s business interest, than for US, also stating Israel’s disagreement to the US policy of “Aman KI Asha”. Hence, Pune blast as an international issue was the need of Israel.
· Israel has recognized India’s rightwing for its racist ideas and similar agenda, openly calming to provide their cadres military training, helping them achieve the goal of Hindu Rashtra. Also, mark India’s intelligence attachment through officers like Unnikrishnan & Robin Singh who were caught spying for Israel, later protected to safe havens. Interestingly, Nitin Gadkari, was awarded BJP’s national president ship after visiting Israel, days before 26/11. Even the communal RSS think tank, Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS) is headed by former military intelligence chief Lt Gen DB Shekatkar, marked with prominent members like, former Intelligence Beauraw chief AK Daval & RAW chief AK Dullat. Moreover, the fact of the Rightwing Abhinav Bharat-Mossad links is recorded within the charge sheets that were filed as per the investigations of Shri Hemant Karkare.
· Naturally, who would then prove conducive to Israeli’s, when Pune Blast makes it to International news hiding Israeli’s crime? No doubt, the Rightwing, who has the sophistication to do so, Pune being their hub.
· Sources in Koregaon Park, Pune reveal: A Osho’s foreigner Sishya, was caught making Pipe Bomb which accidently exploded (Rightwing always blamed Osho as enemy of Hindutva). Remember what happened in Nandeed ? The same style accident, which lead to reveal the secret Pipe Bomb making chamber, also seizing false beard and skull caps. Further analysis on history of pipe bomb reveals the following fact,
Hyderabad, Mecca Masjid blast was a pipe bomb act, Mohammadiya Masjid in Parbhani (November 2003), at the Quadriya Masjid in Jalna (August 2004) and at the Meraj-ul-Uloom Madrassa/Masjid in Purna in Parbhani district (August 2004) was a pipe bomb act. 10th May 2008, a blast rocked a magistrate court in Hubli, Karnataka, was a Pipe Bomb act, later when searched the accused Nagaraj Jambagi house ( member of Sri Ram Sena) police discovered Pipe Bombs. ADG Haryana, V N Rai who was heading the Samjhauta blast probe, said their probe status stands at Indore, the accused had purchased Pipe Bomb shells from Indore market, the two accused were also from Indore. Remember the explosive seized in Indore after Pune Blast, which never made news? On January 24, 2008, bomb blast occurs at the RSS office at Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu. Investigators arrest eight persons belonging to various sangh parivar outfits. The police say that 14 pipe bombs were assembled and the operation commenced in July 2007. Tehelka’s Sting operation, also lead to an accuse accepting of having Crude and Pipe Bomb factory.
· A Malegeon suspect Rakesh Dhawade, named CBI, two Pune’s Wadia college professors, Dr. Sharad Kunte, City VHP head & K.Deo of training Hindutva Terror suspects of making Pipe Bombs. Has this investigation turned murky? Wadia College lies twenty min. walking from German Bakery. The same prof. is said to have trained Nagaraj Jambaji, who planned Hubli blast & whose traces are to be found in Mecca Masjid and Malegaon Blast.
· Sarang Kulkarni, suspected for alleged role in Goa blast was been seen several times in Shivaji Nagar, Pune, prior to Pune Blast, is now missing. Kulkarni is suspected to have transported the chemicals and ammunition for making the Goa bomb.

· The Pune terror pattern is similar to the Abhinav Bharat agendas & operations of the recent past. Immediately after the blast, the IBN-LOKMAT channel mentioned that the pattern appears similar to the Malegaon attacks & it appears that a cycle was used. Later on, we were told that a bag with deadly bombs was found in an auto-rickshaw that was to have targeted the Chabad Lubavitch House nearby. Cycled, Scooters or Auto-Rickshaws; they are all part of the pattern that match an Abhinav Bharat operation. The fact that Ammonium Nitrate mixed with RDX & nails is a Abhinav Bharat finger print.
· The investigators are still clueless about the 500 clandestine military activists, trained by Lt Col Shrikant Prasad Purohit in Bhonsle military school and Goa hideouts.
· A tailor from the shopping complex around the graveyard had picked up a corpse without torso with a false beard. It simply disappeared. ( News Source)
· Traces of RDX that Purohit stole form the army stock were, found in the house of Sudhakar Chaturvedi in Matunga, Pune. (RDX used in Pune blast) (News Sources)
Analyzing Pune Blast leaves plethora of evidences and logics to prove Rightwing hand, locally & internationally, but like always, vindication of very terrorist seems to be the end.

4) Benefit Of Blast
· As if Indian intelligence is rhetoric in blaming Pakistan for every single attack, Pakistan, who notices two blasts every week, has the same song for India. Pune blast indicted Pakistan, listening Indian saga. In Concise: India had an upper hand. ( Point 1) i) )
· The Pune blast was the need of Israel and its Indian soldier Rightwing, who is considered to be against the Indo- Pak peace process for its strategic long-term goal. ( Point 1) i), 2) ii) & 3) iii) )
· Pune blast was a direct message of disagreement to London & Istanbul conference, which jeopardized Indian business interest in Afghanistan. ( Point 1) i) )
· Interestingly, Sharad Pawar made headlines for lobbying with sugar giants & price rice. Eventually, he was, sidelined, following Pune blast.
· Telingana got sidelined and most importantly Ram Pradhan report was finally discussed on 23rd amidst pune blast chaos.
· Finally whoever benefits from Shahid Azmis murder has definite role in 13/2 Pune blast. ( 1) ii) )

5) Awami Bharat Empowerment programme

i) Mass Public Meeting & Rally In the aftermath of the Pune 13/2 terror attack on the German Bakery, the people of this city as well as the rest of our country have begun to ask questions & seek answers from the State, the police apparatus as well as the Corporate Media.Despite the fact that Pune is the HQ of the Abhinav Bharat terror organization, the media has barely given it the attention that is due. In fact every newspaper has continued to issue reports from 'sources' even though the police & the Intelligence agencies have not yet given their assessment of the terror attack. Thus a climate of Islamophobia is being systematically created & a number of ordinary Muslim youth are being called for interrogation. It is as if no other community is suspect in the entire matter, even though the role of Abhinav Bharat has found mention even by the security apparatus. It was in this climate of fear & communalization that the Bharat Bachao Andolan decided to intervene, critically analyze the politics of the Pune attacks, it's likely perpetrators & beneficiaries. After a series of meetings with the representatives of social organizations & political parties we thus arrived at the studied conclusion that the Pune terror attacks were orchestrated to scuttle the Indo-Pak talks, cover- up Shahid’s murder & the benefit that would accrue to Israel in context of the Chabad House.
BBA fearlessly conducted more than 200 corner meetings in localities mostly affected by police brutalities & victimization. Thus on the day of the Death Anniversary of Sambhaji Maharaj, we organized a mass rally, which will finally culminate in a public meeting which will be attended by more than 5000 people. The major theme of the rally & the public meeting focus on exposing the politics of terror.

ii) Delegation to Commissioner Office
The leadership & the constituents of the Bharat Bachao Andolan a delegation led by Brigadier Sudhir Sawant decided to meet the Police Commissioner of Pune, Shri Satyapal Singh, questioning the injustice & malpractices following Pune Blast and charging him for the biased investigation.
Satyapal Singh agreed to the view held by BBA and assured that investigations will be done without any bias to any community.
We will not allow any innocent person to be harassed, but also volunteered to help the police in any way to maintain peace. . We thus appealed to the authorities to stop the persecution of innocent Indians and end the reign of terror.
On DATE DAY the BBA ( Pune Delegations) constituting various secular parties & organizations held a mass public meeting attended by 4000 to 5000 punekars, protesting the undue detainment and harassment by the Pune police also voicing against the biased investigation of security agencies. The constituents of the BBA were, deluged by complaints by the families of numerous Muslim Youth, who then fearlessly voiced their disagreement, demanding justice, sending a strong message of cast-culture unity, to the communal forces who failed to suppress the BBA movement.

iii) We Demand1) We demand a National Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the Pune 13/2 terror attack.2) We demand a special judicial investigation into the murder of Shaheed Adv. Shahid Azmi.3) We demand that the role of Abhinav Bharat, Sanatan Sanstha & especially Himani Savarkar be investigated with all due seriousness.4) The Brahmanical & communal elements within the Intelligence Bureau, the RAW & the Police-Security apparatus be identified & be made to resign.5) The Government of India should end all relations with Apartheid Facist Israel & we call upon the government to Boycott Israel.6) The GOI should also counter the American Imperial policies & wars of occupation.7) We also support the Indo-Pak dialogue. The Imperial powers are attempting to create a war-like situation across the region & the people of India & Pakistan need to be vigilant.8) We also demand anational judicial commission to investigate the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks as well as the assassination of Shaheed Hemant Karkare.
9) We demanded that Commissioner Satyapal Singh be made to resign as he is communally biased & was harassing innocent Muslim youth. He also seems clearly linked to Brahmanical organizations & that needs to be made part of the inquiry instituted. Awami Bharat’s demand/ pressure to debar ATS chief Mr.Raghvanshi for his false flag ONGC arrest lead to Mr. Rakesh Maria on the seats, but he also seems to playing similar cards.

The day BBA’s mass public meet & protest started illegal detention of innocent came to an end.
